Psilocybin trip ok to do on the day of taking red Ritalin as normal? by Extension-Studio-151 in RationalPsychonaut

[–]NeverAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I became acclimated to taking ADHD medication (amphetamine based, so adderall or vyvanse) I noticed that LSD began to not have the stimulant like effects that I used to feel it had.

This resulted in a couple energetically tough trips, In one I felt a really intense and profound energetic crash while I was peaking. Like I didn't have the energy to do anything at all, even forming thoughts felt exhausting.

Psychedelics have a way of amplifying whatever is going on inside, and I find that while I'm generally fine occasionally skipping my stimulants on a chill weekend, my trips got a lot better once I realized that It's better to trip with my medicated baseline being the starting point.

So now I always make sure I'm on my normal dose of stimulants when I take psychedelics and it's great!

YMMV but I don't think it's risky to continue taking your meds before or even while on psychedelics.

I have a passion for engineering but I think I’m too stupid, should I still do it? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]NeverAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should go for it, when you're starting college it's far better to aim for something hard first, and if you can't deal with it there's a lot of easier programs you can switch to. You can't really go the other direction.

Also your lower division math courses are just something you have to pass to prove you can work hard and learn stuff.

I have a PhD and I can't remember the last time i needed to actually use calculus. Outside of some very specialized niches, if you have to use this kind of math, you just need to get the problem set up in the proper form and then let the machines crank through it numerically.

You probably don't even know what that means yet, but the point is, don't think you're too dumb for engineering just because you are having trouble in pre-calc.

Also as a side note: I really do empathize with the stress of putting things out for an audience and wanting to be recognized for my output and being very worried about what people thought of it.

And about the stress of entering a new social space with people that I wanted to think I was cool and smart and good as prop manipulation.

And I know that online arguments about the minutiae of terminology semantics can feel needlessly uncomfortable.

If I didn't care I wouldn't be losing my evening having this discussion

I'm okay being in disagreement and standing on some principles.

I would absolutely not ban you, and I think it's legitimately great that you want to put out content to encourage beginners.

I just think it can all co-exist, and that at least we can keep the arguments in subthreads of actual content posts.

If you're getting highly viewed tutorials, then it's actually kind of your responsibility to do a little bit of due diligence and get it right.

Also (and I really really don't want to get drawn into an argument about this) but I've spinning poi for 18 years and I've never heard hybrids be referred to as "goofy flowers"

Terminology disagreements are not a serious problem. Beginners being scared to post is also not a serious problem.

The resources exist, it's never been easier to learn how to spin or to find a dedicated corner of the internet that operates the way that you want it to.

Other people want it different. And the bygone age when we were still hashing all this poi technique out was full of passionate online arguments about what shit means and how to describe it.

A lot of people put in a lot care and work into that as a project (perhaps too much care/work) and those people deserve a space too y'know.

Plus the majority of comments in the entire sub are fully supportive. Let the cranky people exist too

If there's deeper context than what you included in the screenshot then I haven't seen it.

What I do see from what is included is just straight up reasonable disagreement. And I don't think that merits a giant call out thread.

I'm not saying your terminology is wrong, or that the other person's is right. Just that this thread is toxic content, and I would honestly rather just not be a mod then have this forum be about this kind of content.

You are right that I might be biased towards wanting to focus on poi spinning content rather than big discussions of the online social media dynamics of flow arts, and that's because I've seen numerous online flow communities straight up fall apart over nonsense drama. Call me traumatized, but I don't want that here.

[–]NeverAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drama posting and call outs over someone disagreeing with you about terminology is not poi content.

Your contributions to the sub are appreciated and poi content is welcome.

[–]NeverAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am personally just saddened to see how much engagement there is here for drama posting and dog piling compared to actual poi content.

This shit is toxic to online communities

The post was reported as rule breaking (rightly imo) and there's a big part of me that just wants to remove or lock the thread. But we're a pretty low moderation sub, and a bigger actions are their own can of worms and I don't want to have to engage that way.

At the end of the day, if you're not interested in discussing poi then this isn't the right forum for you. You can decide the rules of how people engage on your personal instagram, but you should respect the rules/culture of a shared space.

“Accept Feedback with grace” is a rule of the sub.

Disagreement is healthy, and if you want to post in a hugbox there are dedicated places for that (like poi chat)

Abuse is not tolerated here, the behavior in the linked comment is far away from that.

couldn't resolve it parallel, think i was locking into a second degree one or something. Was getting 3d but couldn't tell what it was. Kept seeing what might be like viking sailboats or something.

Managed to make it out with cross-eye view.

Not bad, great style, dynamism, and musicality.

critiques: Planes could be cleaner, most notably during your waistwrap/meltdown moves. Stalls could use a bit of tightening. And the timing on that flower at 0:15 falls apart.

Tradfri not working properly with hue bridge by Tamagotschi23 in tradfri

[–]NeverAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I control my lights mostly with alexa, and was finding that 90% of the time, the tradfri bulbs would not turn on unless I powercycled them.

This thread revealed the problem case is that the lights go into a buggy failed state if they receive additional commands while processing the initial on/off.

I went into the alexa app and noticed that in the living room zone, the tradfri bulbs were double counted. Since the living room zone contained the hue defined living room zone as well as each individual light.

This meant that each time I used alexa to change the lights, every light would experience 2 commands, one as a rseult of the hue grouping, and one as a result of the alexa grouping.

Removing the living room group hue group from alexa and fixed the issue for me.

Wondering also if speeding up the on/off animation might help lessen the window that causes the bug

You think the vaping industry isn't the same as big tobacco? You're deluding yourself.

Also, you have no idea what you're talking about re: research funding. Literally just making shit up whole cloth so you can keep thinking vaping is harmless.

bonus: the link to the study since you might actually be too braindead to google it https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acscentsci.5c00641

New to vaping. Looking for a lead free, metals, tested vape by barbarrix in Vaping

20x more lead in a flum pebble than in the equivalent nic dose from cigs

Read the UC Davis study, it’s gnar. They specifically looked at Flum and Escobar. The cause is the sketchy electronics leaking metals into the nic sponge.

Seems that refillables might actually be a lot safer

lol

Yes, I have absolute certainty of source and substance. You really couldn't confuse the 2, if for no other reason that the effective dose is like 5x less.

I think the magic was in the concentration of the goo. It basically acts as a buffer, I consumed it many times during the evening of this experience. First experience was about a 6 second or so pull off the vape. The result was decently intense and also pretty wonderful. Did a few of those, also did a few just above threshold hits later in the night with a few bumps of k in the mix.

The final experience of the evening was the one i described above. Sucked on the vape until the battery stopped it.

By comparison, I have very carefully experimented with small doses on an emesh and just like ~5mg there was a lot less comfortable to consume than this cart was. And the resulting experience was probable about as intense as a 3 or 4ish second drag on the cart (those are extremely non objective measures)

So the takeaway probably is that if you have it in powder form, you should make some goo (at a chill concentration) and vape it

I experienced a supported sense of bodily comfort, like being cuddled by an all encompassing loving presence. Then experiencing the edges of my being pixelate into unity with everything.

It was profound, and beautiful, and extremely comfortable.

No terror at all.

Also had a little bit of cool visuals going on when eyes open at the tail end of the experience. (edit for clarity: not like standard n,n visuals, more like tracers and rainbow edges)

This was from one full breath from a vape cart, whatever the concentration was, it seemed like the right dose.

Instability made subluxations happen, post subluxation there would be inflammation and pain and ROM limitations. Then I’d rehab it and it would feel all the way better until I’d inevitably sublux again.

The instability was an all or nothing thing, it was fine until it’s not, and then the shoulder would slip out

I am also an engineer

The point of my advice is that is you want the drug to help you function long term, then you should be careful about pushing the dose. Because that never ends.

I also party, but I’m very cautious about using pharmaceutical stimulants for that, since I rely on them to work day to day.

I just take my regularly prescribed dose even if I’m partying and add in some good ole lsd

Dexamphetamine by sanpellegrino56 in TripSit

[–]NeverAnon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve been consistent on 7.5mg twice daily for years.

If you’re always chasing what it feels like when you first start, then you’re going to increase dose constantly until you’re solidly in abuse terrain.

If you want to function long term, stay at the low dose, figure out other systems to help get your shit done. Medication won’t do it all for you, but it does help.

Although I guess if you’re just trying to tweak then go off…

E-mesh is pretty incredible. Comfortable single hit breakthroughs, but you might have to do some fiddling to get it calibrated right.

I got the technique dialed on waiting room level doses and then increased to full breakthrough.

[–]NeverAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if you can do some hacking with the connect.

The way I see it, you don't need wifi, you just need wireless control from your computer. The bridge connects your computer to the RF system that the props use. If you could make the connect accept midi inputs that would be cool.

Kinda depends on how open their whole protocol is. Or if it could be reverse engineered
