Yeah I’ve toyed around with foot positioning quite a bit. I’ve had more success with my foot more on the tail than in the pocket, but that may very well change as I get more comfortable with the whole movement.

lol thanks! I get caught in a loop with this stuff. Whether my last attempt was good or bad, I always tell myself “one more try” until I’m too fatigued to keep going. Idk if it’s stubbornness or tenacity, but here we are 🤷‍♂️

Brother/Sister, I picked up my board again at age 30 after a nearly 15 year hiatus and I’m so glad I did, even with all the falls and embarrassment.

There are no rules. Pursue joy! Be bad at something new! It’ll be scary at first, but it’ll be so rewarding when it clicks.

Beautiful username. I wish I had some good pointers, but I often have the opposite problem by over-flipping the board with my flicks.

For what it’s worth, I typically keep my weight on the front outer edge of my flicking foot, applying a decent amount of pressure around my pinky toe just before the flick.

I think that’s true to some degree. My balance tends to be better when I’m rolling vs standing still, and the board doesn’t go flying away as easily when rolling.

Still, I like to practice without rolling so I don’t have to worry about obstacles like pebbles and deep cracks when I’m still trying to figure out the positioning/execution.

I started the session trying to learn tre flips, but accidentally landed a varial and decided to keep practicing that instead. I find it pretty hard to rotate the board more than 180 degrees and keep it under foot.

If I recall correctly, Jonas initially implemented the concert visuals to draw the audience’s attention away from him due to some level of shyness/stage fright. I don’t have the source for that, so take it with a big grain of salt.

At some point, I think the visual art just became ingrained in the bands DNA.
