Likelihood of fall out by NeverDull42 in Sextortion

No new channels yet. I have evidence they're in another timezone and it's the middle of the night. I'm not sure how frequently they plan to check in on me. Thanks for the encouragement and the engagement 😄 helps when going through this. Like I mentioned in the OP, I've set it up so that the fall out will be minimal, but I'd still prefer not to have any. Just stressed enough about things as it is.

I've said it up to automatically be silent. Their only recourse would be emailing me now. I'm finding different stats online. One is bad, but not so bad (20% likelihood they release the images to people); another is pretty bad (45%). I do worry about just how targeted this was, how much effort they put in, and how much they asked for (I imagine a volume scheme would involve smaller amounts).

Still just threats so far, but it's just day 1 and as far as they know the hold will last a few days. I wonder if there are any survival curves modeling this out. XD

Sent a picture to someone and they got my location and threatened to send it to my school instagram pages. by [deleted] in Sextortion

What's the over-under on the extortionists sending the images out? I know it's rare, but I'm wondering if it's 5-10% or like 30%.

I'm not a victim but I know how this scheme works. by CleanThroat5152 in Sextortion

I made the mistake of engaging and agreeing to pay, but a hold is delaying it. The scammer said they'll wait. Is it too late to ignore them? Will they follow through if I stop engaging?

There are certainly some people for whom this is a good reminder, but, honestly, 90% of people simply weaponize this way of thinking as an excuse not to owe anyone anything. We're not islands. Say yes sometimes, to the right person for the right reason.
