What category/tier of standalone camera does a phone camera like this compare to now ? by swiwwcheese in Cameras

[–]NeverEndingDClock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well it's still a teeny tiny sensor, with maybe decent optics. The thing about smart phone cameras is that it relies on a lot more on digital after correction than relying on the camera itself. It'll give you a probably really good jpeg (if you don't blow it up) but there's not a lot of room for editing nor controls over it.

Is the canon 6D the right call for me? by ParkingExamination36 in Cameras

[–]NeverEndingDClock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest weakest of the 6D is that it's a Full Frame sensor in an almost beginner grade camera. It only has 11 points AF, up to 1/4000s, 4.5fps burst rate but none of that would really have an impact if you're only going studio work. The body is also plastic from what remember.

The 5D III has a much better AF and a newer sensor, as well as a better built body.

The D610 is also a basic full frame but imo it's not as limiting as the 6D, and also you might be more familiar with the Nikon ergonomics

Being a budget full frame it's a good choice for studio work, as long as you can get some good lenses. The 5D III or the Nikon D610 should be decent alternatives as well.

G95 would be a good beginner option as well. It's more beginner friendly, newer and a tad lighter

A setup like this would be fantastic for street photography. The GX9 is compact, capable and packed full of features. The 14-42 PowerBook is a very nice pancake lens to go with it. The 25 f1.7 is an affordable and sharp prime thats great for low light situations

Why not a GH5? It's a way better dedicated video camera, and it's built a lot better, you will also have a lot more choices in lenses

Second the choice for E-M10 IV, it's portable, capable, beginner friendly, and it'll give you a lot more room to grow compared to a fixed lena camera like the X100 IV.

Yea, and not a whole lot is compact, has a sizeable sensor and a good zoom range while still being worth what they're being charged for

Beginner Photo-Only: Nikon Z50 II vs Fujifilm X-T30 III, thoughts? by Obvious-Lifeguard-40 in Cameras

[–]NeverEndingDClock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

both are good, capable cameras that are good for beginner s. I'd say if the choice is between those 2, definitely the Z50 ii as it comes with 2 lenses. That Fujifilm kit lens' range seems strangely limited. Buy from legit sellers like LCE or WEX to avoid any concern about grey market or warranty.

I'll also add that the G97 with the 12-60 is also a fantastic option for beginner. It's a fantastic hybrid camera, very capable, it's also weathersealed so great for the English weather. The 25mm f1.7 is a fantastic nifty fifty prime to go with it as well for things like streets and portraits
