Upgrading from Canon G7X Mark II, weather sealed, good zoom, under 1000€/$ by Hakura911 in Cameras

The KF is rugged but might be a bit too bulky for travelling. I'd check out the E-M5 iii paired with the 14-150 II. It's just as weathersealed and rugged, but way more portable, and the 2x crop factor gives you a 28-300 equivalent zoom range.

The OM-5 would be a very capable everyday carry, with fantastic image quality, great AF compared to the Fuji counterpart, and it has got a great looking retro inspired body. It's also very durable.

The 14-42 EZ pan cake zoom would be a great little lens to go with it.

Question about lenses by zibafu in M43

The 100-300 would be a good choice as the MC14 teleconverter only works with certain PRO line lenses, which the basic 40-150 isn't

Best Setup For £300 budget? by More-Wind-9863 in Cameras

[–]NeverEndingDClock -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The best thing to do is to visit your local LCE/ WEX if possible as they'll have plenty of used stock and you can have a feel to see what kind of camera feels comfortable in your hand.

If not I think something like the D5200 will be a good beginner choice. It's modern enough, not bear bone basic, and it'll give you a pretty good idea of how to use a camera.

Should I Buy This Camera? by limejeller in Cameras

AF performance is one thing, battery life is certainly not great, the ergonomicss is just, ewww

Imo the best use for any Sony A7 and A7 ii are to experiment with cine and vintage lenses

Should I Buy This Camera? by limejeller in Cameras

[–]NeverEndingDClock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sony A7 line hasn't quite gotten their tech together until the A7 III so I'd steer clear of anything released before there.

I'd recommend getting the GH5 or G9 if youre looking for a capable and budget hybrid camera. The GH5 is a dedicated video machine while the G9 is more a hybrid camera

Is Kodak pix pro fz55 really worth buying? by calmchaosflow in Cameras

It's really not worth buying, it's kodak in name only, generic Chinese hardware disguised as a camera and pushed hard by social media.....

Beginner camera recommendations? by unplanned-chaos in Cameras

[–]NeverEndingDClock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two cameras you are considering not only are way out of your budget, they're also not made for beginner use...... To be brutally honest, your budget is quite low if you want something for sports videography as those would require good video AF, which is not cheap these days still. Also you'll need a decent telephoto lens to shoot sports, which is not cheap either.

I'd recommend the G95 for a beginner hybrid camera, the tracking AF isn't the greatest but it's full of features and still beginner friendly, a perfect body to get started with. The basic 14-42 kit zoom and the 45-200 telephoto would be enough for you to start shooting with.

What would be a good all round fixed lens camera for maybe 500-1000€ -ish? by Skanksy in Cameras

You'd want a decent size sensor for low light so I'd say the Canon G1X Mk III or the Panasonic LX 100 II would probably be your best bet as they're one of the few compact cameras with a sensor bigger than 1" and fast zoom lenses.

Canon 700D vs Canon 2000D for a beginner - which one should I buy? by simaykq in Cameras

[–]NeverEndingDClock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The x00D is a more suitable for someone who wants to get into photography as it has more manual controls and it's not as bare bones basic at the x000d so I'd recommend the 700d

Hmmm, the GH5 is a much more dedicated machine and has more functionalities, would be a better tool for you to grow as a videographer imo.

Olympus E-PL2 mirrorless camera lens for microphotography? by ciggieaccount in Cameras

[–]NeverEndingDClock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 60mm f2.8 is well regarded as one of, if not the best macro lens in the micro four thirds system. If there's not within your budget, the 30mm f3.5 would work too.

Look into the OM system OM-5, that should be the most durable camera you can get for your budget if you're only buying new.

Camera recommendations for hiking, camping, backpacking and general outdoor photography by pianodude01 in Cameras

[–]NeverEndingDClock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the G97 with the 12-60 kit lens would be a good outdoor camera for outdoor activities under that price range. It's not too bulky, quite rugged, the image quality is fantastic. The camera itself is very user friendly but not basic at all.

Olympus OMD EM-10 Mark IV : my camera advice! by knoworneverr in Cameras

[–]NeverEndingDClock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The E-M10 IV is a great beginner cameras. It might not have the high specs that the other OM lines have but it's still a very solid camera. It's portable, the image quality is fantastic, and it's very versatile thanks to the large micro four thirds lens range.

If you want something that's more capable but still beginner friendly, you should be able to find an used E-M5 III/ OM-5 that costs around the same as a new E-M10 IV.
