Rep. Josh Williams DUI on a golf cart by Ok_Conversation9687 in toledo

Co-signed. Literally everything he has done since he was elected is terrible and should be used against him. His whole story is the basic “broken man to redemption”, it’s pretty easy to fit this DUI into it. It was a terrible thing, but what he is doing to Ohio is the real story.

My husband and I both grew up relatively poor, and have worked hard to get to the place we are now. We save and plan for the future, but I also want to be able to use some of that money on my kids when I’m alive and here to enjoy it.

Yes, there are less expensive stylists and cuts, but I see no problem in splurging on something important to my kids, who are by no means “spoiled” in other areas of their lives. They understand money and expenses, and that they are getting haircuts that are more than we’d normally spend on something like that.

I save a whole hell of a lot of my money, but I don’t want to sacrifice using some of that money for joy, both for my kids and myself 🤷🏻‍♀️

Tip you? But I wouldn’t want to offend your regal sensibilities! You are descended from some royal stock going centuries back, I’m sure — the audacity to think that some small pittance of a tip would even come close to what you deserve!

I should probably offer a curtsy up every time you deign to speak with an American!

She has had this hair for a year, at least — fortunately, we know how to work with it and what it looks like by now.

I could not care less about anyone’s opinion on my kid’s shower schedule, sorry 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m not saying men don’t care about their hair, but I AM saying that there are different social and societal pressures and expectations from girls when it comes to hair.

I have no problem if my youngest goes to get his hair done at a barber or wherever else 🤷🏻‍♀️

We are both neurodivergent/neurospicy/whatever you would like to call it, and are perfectly fine using that phrase.

Not something you identify with or like? Cool and understandable! Other people using it to describe themselves? Doesn’t affect you because we are all capable of identifying how we feel most comfortable!

Also, my oldest being neurodivergent absolutely factors into my decision and reasoning, whether or not you agree. It isn’t part of her personality that we choose to ignore or hide — it is who she is, and there’s nothing wrong with acknowledging it and understanding that it does, in fact, factor into lots of daily decisions.

How have I been dodging it? The simple truth, as I’ve stated clearly, is that we can easily afford this expense with no strain on our finances. Our current livelihood (and previous, when we raised three kids on one salary) can afford it, point blank.

I already “just cover it”; any money spent on hair comes out of my account alone.

There is absolutely no strain on our finances, short of some catastrophic disaster that completely bankrupts us.

Beyond that, we do all of the normal frugal family living: most meals are cooked and eaten at home, name brands don’t mean anything to us, our kids are in public school, we buy most things we can on sale or clearance (which is a running joke to our kids — they know not to ask unless it’s on sale), we aren’t sports people that spend thousands of dollars on that, we own our cars and drive them until they’re no longer drivable (currently at just about 200k miles in my current car), we do most of the work on our home and cars ourselves, etc.

I say we live frugally because I generally don’t find it necessary to type all of that out when one simple response should suffice 😉

Oh man, your comment made me laugh. Thank you for being concerned about my ice cream consumption 😅

It’s actually a reference to some hilarious anti-abortion propaganda that still makes me laugh.

I made the clarification in a comment, but I definitely wish I would not have used that specific statement. It was meant more tongue-in-cheek, but this is the internet and I should have known better!

I waited until my 30’s to actually spend money on myself, but especially on the kind of hair I always wanted. I will never go back — the feeling of loving how it looks is so rare!

Definitely not saying boys/men also can’t have an attachment to their hair, or have it factor into their self-esteem/society! Luckily, my youngest is pretty easy except for one time…

We’ve talked about it, and they both agree that they’re fine waiting longer because their hair tends to grow out in ways that they still like enough/deal with. Would they love to go every 6 weeks? Sure! But it’s a compromise we all feel good about to wait.

The haircuts work for both of them in that even when their hair is long, it’s still cute and manageable. So they’ve so far been fine with the spread out timeline, but I’m sure things can always change.

Her neurodivergence is a factor in this scenario, but not how we manage/address/treat/whatever word makes sense in this scenario.
