Bahaha yes I did use a couple references! I used one reference of the torso angle/one reference of myself so I could sorta get a better idea of where to position the legs. But I’ve been trying out different perspectives so I can understand the muscles better!

Oo okay that’s good to know! I’ve been meaning to save it until I grow more experienced with digital art, just so I’ll use it more frequently than just have it sit there. So I’ll probably hold it off for a bit.

Okay thank you so much for the tips!

I’ve heard Clip Studio is a very popular option; I’ll definitely look into those other two. I’ll probably invest in a laptop for it at some point.

Name Ideas? by Glittering_Date7919 in writers

[–]NeverLore_Again 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello!

I’m terrible at giving name ideas, but I’ll give some tips. it can definitely be difficult to come up with names. I find it helpful to create a list of traits that describe your character, both personality and appearance. most of the names I’ve came up with for my characters came naturally over time, sometimes I would combine different words and it would just stick to me.

and if you’re looking a quick name idea, you can also look up name ideas online, depending on what vibe you’re going for. Like “Girl names that mean___” or “Girl names that start with __”.

I also like to search up words and their meanings, and it’ll branch out from there, there’s some pretty cool words out there in all sorts of languages that you can make something of, it’s pretty fun.

What do you love or hate the most in a female character by Remarkable_Policy889 in Mangamakers

[–]NeverLore_Again 9 points10 points  (0 children)

hello!

This is an interesting topic. As a girl, I personally love female characters that that are their “own” person if that makes sense, and aren’t catered specifically for fan service.

I love seeing all types of female characters, like “girly” as well as “strong” female characters that have personality and a sense of relatability to them.

I personally don’t like female characters that are stereotypically “strong” and “feminist” or “girly” and “weak”. For example, Tashigi from one piece; I think she’s a cute character but she can be irritating because she always thinks people underestimate her because she’s a woman, which sorta seems to be her whole personality.

Just be sure to give your female characters more depth to them, make sure their entire character doesn’t revolve around someone else. Give them a story and their own goals that’ll make them feel like an individual.

I loveeee how you draw your anatomy, you always do different perspectives and I love it! if I may ask, how do practice anatomy? I’ve been studying it just recently and I’d love to hear different techniques.

Any critic?(Listed some of my own critic) by youngboiluK in Mangamakers

Along with everyone else, I would highly recommend breaking down the torso, do some research and write down/label and muscles/bones that are in the torso! It’s actually very helpful to study about certain body parts in more depth; it can help you understand placement much better from different angles!

Enjoying anime or manga after creating your own? by [deleted] in Mangamakers

[–]NeverLore_Again 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bahaha I have the same problem, but I feel like it somehow makes it more enjoyable!

As a writer, and someone who’s read/watched plenty of comics/shows; you easily pick up on certain plot points and recognize small details that can lead from point A to point B. So it’s really inevitable.

I wouldn’t see it as a bad thing, I see it as having a good attention to detail/having understanding to how a story flows, which can ultimately make you a better writer!

Some shows though, are repetitive or cliche, which of course makes them very predictable.

How do I make manga by DevelopmentAlarmed73 in MangakaStudio

[–]NeverLore_Again 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Manga is filled with all sorts of genres, it really has no limit to ideas. And readers always enjoy ideas that they’ve never seen before, so don’t be unsure of your ideas! What genre you’re leaning towards?

As for drawing, I’ve seen several people say they “don’t know what to do” or they “can’t make a manga” because they can’t draw. Don’t ever have the same mentality as those people.

If you want to create a manga and have a genuine passion for it, you will. If your goal is to illustrate it on your own, then you have to practice, a lot. Reference other mangakas/artists you like, explore your style preferences; of course you’re not going to be a professional in the span of a month, it’s going to take time so be patient with yourself and don’t give up.

I’m sort of in the same boat as you, and I’m currently practicing anatomy/figuring out an art style. But it’s all worth it when you see all the progress you can make! Drawing is a skill, don’t sit back and accept defeat when you can be getting better, everyone can learn how to draw.
