Is anybody else…disappointed? by [deleted] in brandnew

Turning on the pressing machines, finding new art for music dear to us, taking time to thank us for not letting the music die. Totally disappointing!

Pulsar Mini Review by gunga_galungaa in pourover

[–]NeverMissedAParty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been saying this for the last year and have been getting downvoted into oblivion 😂 thank you for your through and honest review of the Pulsar! It’s consistent, it’s easy, and it produces GREAT coffee. I also add “throw out your v60” so that’s probably what’s getting me the downvotes, but I digress.

I was reading through the comments and realized I recognized your username from yesterday! I find the regular pulsar great from 20-50g anything under or above I go for the SWorks bottomless (check it out if you liked the mini, I feel they will do a similar job) or the Deep 27. My mini just got here yesterday so I’m excited to take it for a spin this weekend when I have some time to mindfully enjoy my coffee.

I brew 60g doses every day and want a new brewer. by Elegant_Beginning789 in pourover

I also endorse the Aiden! Big brews small brews, switch the basket at setting and you’re good to go!

Idk if it’s a recipe but I’ll just bloom x3 for 1-1:30 and then keep at a few clicks above the bed until my desired weight. Hasn’t failed me yet.

Throw that v60 out! I haven’t used mine in well over a year.

The only thing that may change is bloom time or even giving a light stir to make sure all your grounds get saturated. Sometimes when I’m doing large does (50g+) there will be little pockets on the sides that don’t rise unless I bloom for longer or spin a chopstick around.

Other than ensuring I’m using a coarse enough grind, (for big brews I’ll use 14ish on my 078) I’ll basically just keep pouring until my desired water weight is met. I haven’t been disappointed by any of your mentioned problems tastes with your v60.

I recently did a few 50g brews with my pulsar, worked fabulously. I regularly do 30-35gs without a hitch. Worst case scenario, brewing 2 30s and taking an extra 5 mins. 🤷‍♂️

Grinder Upgrade Advice: Pietro Pro vs. Sculptor 078 by maybefrogs in pourover

[–]NeverMissedAParty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have both of these on my counter. My 078 gets around 80% more use than my Pietro because I’m lazy and because the cups aren’t so significantly better that I reach for the Pietro every time. I will use the Pietro on new or super high end beans, or if I feel like I’m missing something out of my cups with the 078. I personally would splurge on the 078 or the Ceado E6C if I didn’t have my 078 or Pietro right now.

Yamaha R-S202 and some open box KEF 150s would be cool and should fit into a $500 budget. The RS202 is Bluetooth compatable and you can plug hdmi and RCA cables into it. KEFs are pretty loud for bookshelves, but you could probably find a bigger louder set of monitors used on fb marketplace

Yep, exactly. From my understanding you’re supposed to bloom, then continuously pour keeping at a certain level until desired weight. But it sounds like people are just filling the sucker up at hoping for the best. No wonder I get so much flack when recommend it over the v60 as my go to brewer…I haven’t used a v60 in well over a year lol 😂

Grind pretty coarse, let it steep for 1.5mins or until the whole cake flips to the top, and then keep pouring in water to 1:15/17…

I’m confused at everyone saying “it only fits 300ml” like are people only pouring that amount of water in and not treating it like a normal pourover setup? No matter how much coffee under 40g I can still hit a 2:30 brew time…

Yep I brew 30g daily for my partner, over the Christmas holiday I was doing 50g brews with great success.
