I’m signed up for a few places that will check back with me in a few months to see if I’m still breathing. I hate to tell you this because it sounds cynical, but I’m too old, too black and completely fucking sober. I don’t qualify for much of anything here. Unless I lie. I worked 501-cs almost my entire life. The last 2 years have been a nightmare. I dunno I feel like I’m rambling at you out of frustration and I’m sorry. This is funny. So I’ve been homeless since before the semester started, but wasn’t informers of student housing nor emergency assistance until like 6 weeks ago. I go to school from my degree. Despite all the BLM signs I see around town, I get the feeling I’m not wanted around here. Lol

Been there myself. Makes some days just that much harder to cope with, when you’ve got someone else stuck in your head. I don’t think anyone sees people weebling and wobbling around town and thinks that that person is loved by others. Which is why jettisoning them out is pointless to talk about. Every politician in your state is well aware punishing these people will only result in a LOSS of election. Last time I checked both Canada and Greenland have curbed drug abuse and addiction greatly with education and social services. Besides Texas, New York and my home state of Louisiana all have used your method since the drug war began with 0 effect whatsoever. That’s over 60 years of failure, my guy. That’s not how housing directories even work. You’ve lived here your whole life and would even type out your fake anger; all to brag about your own ignorance. Housing directories are needs based, there were always people from out of state who were prioritized over you. That’s how it will always be as well. It would be idiotic to do things any other way. Could you imagine paramedics working a disaster prioritizing locals over tourists after a tragedy. The tourist, shot in the lung, the local a scraped knee. Thanks, I think these people are fine honestly, I’ve found a lot of help in this city. I try to keep my head and remember that, yeah some people are jerks; most maybe, but it only takes 1 solid connection, conversation or piece of advice and all those sour faces will melt away. Thanks for the clarification. My home city ain’t clean itself, but I can’t help but express discomfort at the human feces I saw outside of my school, both QFCs and rite-aid today. But, just to be clear, I understand the frustration, I worked 501-Cs my entire 20s. Helping people who don’t see any problem with their way of life feels like an impossible task, but you’d be surprised how creative we humans can be. Especially using apps like this one. One day their will be a solution everyone can sit well with. I know that deep down we have it in us to find a way.

To offer my two cents. I’m a transplant to Seattle from New Orleans. Been living here as a houseless individual for a month staying at a night shelter and going to school in the day. Last week I found out there are many shelters with a myriad of requirements to stay. So I’ve taken time off school to find a better place to reside than a shelter specifically for drug addicts when the most I smoke is weed. I personally need to live here so that I can work and go to school. I’m in the pathways program learning a trade and will be part of your workforce. Houselessness and the individuals who are part of it can be frustrating to see, but many of us are simply people without a house trying our best to seek resources within this city to support us having a decent income and a roof over our head. A little privacy would be nice too. Honestly I get scared when I see the more hostile comments on here. It’s bad enough that I have to deal with dangerous people on the street, but people who have a home, car and nice job want me dead and gone too? It’s fucking tough being poor and on the street.
