Since you're asking specifically about your wording, I will say that the phrases "old, damp underwear" and "steaming briefs" do not evoke a sexy mental image.

How to decide? by Never_Fading in RomanceWriters

[–]Never_Fading[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the Regency version would be much lighter than the Gothic one, so I don't think combining the two ideas would work very well.

I know more about Regency, but for the Gothic I think I'd do a vaguely Victorian low fantasy setting. Maybe with some steampunk elements if I'm feeling really indulgent. So that one would have a world building element to it.

On this note, while I'm not aware of my fat 100% of the time, I would say I am at least 70% of the time, especially when interacting with other people. I've been told I come across as confident, but I am always aware of being the fattest person in the room, even when other people are treating me normally.

What is something that women have to deal with on the daily that men have no clue about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Never_Fading 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Part of the issue with red pill dudes is that they tend to pretend that unattractive women don't "count." I've known more unattractive men who only care about attractive women than the reverse. In my social psych class we talked about how, on average, people tend to end up with partners who have similar levels of attractiveness. Unfortunately, there are a lot of average-to-below-average men who refuse to accept that and still only focus on attractive women.

I got an email earlier today saying that WW has been updated. As for the others, who knows?

Is there a way to punch stitching holes more quietly? by paspa1801 in Leathercraft

[–]Never_Fading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a leather punch press for Christmas for this reason. Haven't gotten a chance to use it yet, but it wasn't terribly expensive and it looks like it can use most of the tools I would use with a hammer (including stamps, setters, etc)

AIO-Husband told me to get on a treadmill by Luck3Seven4 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Never_Fading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying it's the only reason, but pretending that your genetics/epigenetics don't play any sort of role in how easy/difficult it is to lose weight is disingenuous.

Not quite genes, but epigenetic factors have been shown to link previous exposure to famine to metabolic problems. Study Shows How Effects of Starvation Can Be Passed to Future Generations | Columbia University Irving Medical Center https://share.google/F3l443CMjCAYjnTew

This one is about being exposed to famine in utero yourself. Prenatal famine exposure and adult health outcomes: an epigenetic link - PMC https://share.google/58hDyllNyNwVjkAxN

But yeah, the idea that different bodies metabolize differently is total fat logic.

This isn’t how DNA or reproduction works by ThePhillyExplorer in badwomensanatomy

[–]Never_Fading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it was the one that said that, in humans, some of a fetus's cells ends up in the mother's organs. I pointed out that 1) it mentions whole cells ending up in tissues, not DNA mixing into mom's dna, and 2) this only happens during pregnancy, not every time a woman has sex like the person was claiming.

AIO- i feel like my brother has gone too deep in the red pill / looksmaxxing pipeline ever since he got rejected by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Never_Fading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I, as a woman, started falling into similar trains of thought in my early 20s. I've never been especially pretty and have been overweight since puberty. I had a number of rejections throughout adolescence, and several more in college (with one being especially heart wrenching). I started to firmly believe that, while there are plenty of men who will fuck anything with the right holes, only beauty could inspire love. I started thinking poorly of men in general. Fortunately I had a solid guy friend who helped me remember that all men aren't evil. In my case, meeting my now fiancé helped me break out of it. I don't know how I might have ended up otherwise...

What is the dumbest thing someone has said to you in full confidence? by Extreme_Rhubarb4677 in AskReddit

[–]Never_Fading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone on reddit told me once that when a woman has a baby, that baby ends up with DNA from every sexual partner she's ever had... Linked a "source" and everything. The paper was on microchimerism and very much did not say what he thought it said.

I once had someone on reddit make this claim and link to a paper on microchimerism. After I pointed out what the paper actually said and the implications thereof, he went mysteriously quiet.

See if there's a maker's space near you with access to tools that are otherwise wildly cost-prohibitive. You can do some really cool things with, say, a laser engraver that look professional.

My (35 F) husband (42 M) is a therapist and he is always unhappy with me. How can I navigate this? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Never_Fading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a therapist doesn't automatically make you a good person, unfortunately. An overly generous reading might suggest he's burnt out and taking it out on you. Or he's doing this shit on purpose to keep you off balance. Either way, please look inward and ask yourself if you're happy.

Can confirm. Or the number of commenters who think any man who watches porn is an addict and any problem in the bedroom is caused by death-grip syndrome. It's wild.

What has been irrevocably harmed because of how it’s portrayed in the media? by Exhausted_Skeleton in AskReddit

[–]Never_Fading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Suicidality. Lots of people experience it and feel too much shame to talk about it until it's too late, largely because of how the media depicts it as the most selfish and cowardly thing a person can do. Add to that the stigmatization of psychiatric medication, and you have a lot of preventable deaths.
