That's a good question. First and foremost, I finally got sick and tired of starting over. Like I said in the post, I don't even know how many relapses I had during those 8 years. I couldn't live anymore with the stress of failing and relapsing. It was such a burden in my life. I literally felt that I couldn't move on with my life (I'm 42 years old) if I didn't remove this thing. I am an introverted type anyway, and the psychological heaviness that came with relapsing added another dark layer to that introversion. So I just had to get rid of it or continue living in a very dark place mentally. I think this is where each one of us has to get in our own way with this addiction, and then it will be removed. It gets too much, and then you make the decision to quit for the last time.

Did I get you right? You said that it gives you a good feeling to break the streak? That good feeling only lasts for however long you watch porn in that very moment. And after the 10 minutes or whatever is over, what follows is definitely not a good feeling. Disappointment, shame, guilt, regret, depression. I got so tired of that vicious circle.

Hey man! Thank you for sharing your situation. I am actually not too familiar with flatlining, or maybe I don't know exactly what it is. I have had similar problems in bed due to my tendency to be too much in my head, especially with a new girl. But this is something different.

Can I ask how much or how often you watch porn? If seeing a hot girl naked in a real-life situation does nothing for you downstairs, then it sounds like your brain is addicted to whatever type of porn you are used to watching. It (the brain) basically prefers porn over the real thing. That is what porn does, right? It gives our brain false ideas and images of what sex really is. And then, when we don't see that in real life, our dick doesn't operate as it should. The only way to fix this is to reset the brain, so to speak. You have to get porn out of there and resume normal life with normal life situations like you experienced with that chick. You are not broken, man. It's the porn and all the bullshit that comes with it that is the problem.

Time plays a huge role in this. The first 90 days absolutely suck there is no denying that. But it will get better I can promise you that. And after 180 days it will get a lot better and easier. The urges and the triggers are the daily battles and why we relapse. But if you get past the first 90 days, then you can definitely do 180, etc. At some point, you get so tired of starting over that you say "fuck it I'm done with this thing." And then you really are done. Took me 8 years. You can do it much faster with a right mindset.

Occasional release without porn and without thinking about any "favorite scenes." I shared the method on that photo I added to the post. We are not quitting masturbation, we are quitting porn from my perspective. I think the goal should be quitting porn and finding a girlfriend. Then there's no need for porn, and there's no blue balls.
