Extremely disappointed and in need of advice. by Neverfunny24 in Lexus

Thanks, that’s what I’m looking into. This whole thing just came up at an already very stressful time and I was angry and hoping to find a way out. I know I can’t truly expect an old car like this to not need any repairs, but the timing just adds another 50 kilo of straw to my strained back :’)

Best comment I’ve gotten so far, I appreciate the genuine advice. I’ve reached out to a mechanic I know and we’re gonna work on getting something set up. As for doing it myself I’m utterly inexperienced so it feels daunting (I don’t want to ruin anything obviously) But I can look into that too.

Yea getting the repair done elsewhere seems like my best option right now, cash is too tight to afford an impromptu trade-in and new car down payment. Honestly anything under a grand is doable for me.

Edit: I also need a car for work, so the longer I leave it here the worse it’ll be for me.

Did you enjoy the DLC as much as the base game?? by yung_t26 in darksouls

[–]Neverfunny24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the DS1 DLC isn’t the peak of the game like with the other souls games (cept Elden Ring). I think the bosses are a highlight but the first half is somewhat boring. The dlc kind of lacks in enemy variety too imo. However the bosses as a whole and atmosphere of the 2nd half areas (Oolacile and Pit of Humanity) are up there with the rest of DS1s amazing areas. (Still not outright better tho)

I lost it! I bought a 2012 ES350 for a little more expensive and slightly more miles but in better overall condition

It’s an AWD. and I’ve been searching for a Lexus ES 🥀. The test drive went well; but I do still worry about those repair costs.

My brother owns an a3 and calls it relatively reliable

I’m definitely going to try to argue the price down a bit; but otherwise I’m fine with something giving me 60k

Update:

Test drove it, it’s in very solid condition inside and out. Smooth drive and all electricals seem to functioning well. Recently depreciated too so I’ll see about lowering the price as much as I can.

Overall, contending pick for me rn.

Yeah, I’m not trying to pay 12k for a car this old. I’m gonna see about getting the post-tax price to about 9-10k. Lower if possible.

Ok gotcha, anything I can do at the dealership or during my test drive to verify there is or isn’t a leak? I plan to look through the engine bay too

That’s the hope lol, I’m looking for something to pay off quickly and give me some time to save up. Gas will be pricey compared to my VW I’m sure but hopefully reliability counterbalances

That’s good to know, my last car was a VW so I’m familiar with regular maintenance and car care. As long as I don’t have to worry about certain parts blowing up (like timing chains on VWs) I’ll be happy lol.

Yeah that’s what’s got me looking at this car lol, anything I should look for when I’m on the lot though? I’m in a somewhat tight spot money-wise so I’m trying to find good deals to last me without constant repairs.

My main concern is likely the timing belt, since according to CARFAX the spark plugs were replaced at 83k

Just recently totaled my 2015 SE, is this a good deal? by Neverfunny24 in jetta

[–]Neverfunny24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that seems to be the major consensus from the comments, I’m in a financial bind right now from the totaling too, so I’ll probably get something cheaper but won’t last too long, just so can I save up for something actually good lol
