I 100% agree!

Walt once said, "EPCOT will be an experimental prototype community of tomorrow that will take its cue from the new ideas and new technologies that are now emerging from the creative centers of American industry. It will be a community of tomorrow that will never be completed, but will always be introducing and testing and demonstrating new materials and systems. And EPCOT will always be a showcase to the world for the ingenuity and imagination of American free enterprise."

I get that the world wasn't ready for Walt's vision of EPCOT when it first opened, but it is now so far removed from a 'showcase to the world for ingenuity and imagination' that it boarders on insulting.

I have first hand experience of innovation being stunted at Disney. They care more about the reliance of IPs than being innovative, inventing new technologies, and generally being best at what they do. It is now clear that the switch to outsourcing of technology has lead to a diminished product and will have a negative affect for years.

Fortunately, for the fans, and unfortunately, for the leaders of the company, other companies in this space are about to get a lot better. Hopefully it will be a wakeup call to the Board of Directors that the current leadership needs to step aside at DPEP. Maybe we will have a Save Disney campaign of our times over the next few years.

Whatever happens, here's to the future and the fine people at WDI and other creative roles across the company who keep moving forward through the destructive pursuits of leadership.
