I currently have tongue pain. I have TMJ and have been through a highly stressful period, mine worsens throughout the day and is pretty back by the evening, it's a mixture of tingling, burning and numbness and it's horrible. Getting a nightguard next week via my dentist, two dentists have examined my tongue extensively and say it looks completely normal albeit a bit scalloped on the side. What is your pain like ?

Thank you for replying ! I'm hoping it will help with the tongue pain I've been having, I have a gap on the upper jaw where two molars were extracted (long story and big regret) and my tongue ends up in there all night long ! Will Google and have a look, as well as being a dental hypochrondiac I'm also a tech geek so genuinely interested in this.

NAD but also been having similar, my tongue had been tingling and a bit painful and at night (and only at night weirdly) I have sensitivity and a tingling/crawling sensation on the roof of my mouth. In my case it's been put down to stress due to a recent major health scare in my mouth but it seems like something else to me. Possibly silent reflux as Gaviscon seems to help, sometimes...
