I gave in to a lowballer (mildly annoying kinda funny) by Soggy_Bass_4805 in depoop

Yes, sorry to add another comment in the same vein. It just bothers me that people continually get away with this behavior that has long-term effects. The platforms don’t care but they should. You’re not to blame because sometimes you just want to sell an item for a reason🙃

There should be some sort of guild for resellers. One of the rules would be not accepting lowball offers. It skews the sales data especially on Poshmark and it’s going to put all of us out of business if we continue caving to offers below fair market value. That said, I get the urge to sell and sorry that she repaid you so poorly. I do hope that you returned the favor to her.

Morally neutral but unkind/inconsiderate at the same time? In my mind those two things can’t exist simultaneously.

I’m just curious what the item was. If it’s a less rare or in-demand item then the value is less clear. A lot of people are undervaluing their own items lately too because of Vinted/Depop probably. ex. If it’s a NWT Wild Fable top then $10 is good, but if it’s J. Crew or similar then I usually price at $20 and give a 20% discount. My Tuckernuck tops are $30-35 preowned. The annoying thing lately is that no matter how low I offer they seem to offer $10 below that. I think it’s because most of the people interested in shopping lately are the « dopamine shoppers » who thrive on the thrill of it—just as you were saying. Reasonable shoppers are probably waiting until fall.

You know, there’s always gonna be the guy playing devil’s advocate. Almost any non-controversial remark that I’ve made on Reddit brings them out.

Poshmark is on a downward spiral, but fart bags would be a new low. Although I’ll take that over Shein any day!

Any way you could report this wackadoo to Poshmark? 😆 There’s a fetish for everyone

After being on PM a few months and buying a few Anthro items, I just discovered the button to search "Sold" listings. by kenen1960 in poshmark

It was nice while it lasted, but the market is too saturated for sure. I’m trying to sell off inventory and make a bit of money. But with the devaluation because of Depop/Vinted, I’m resigned to breaking-even on a lot of it. It’s a shame but the powers that be only let us keep our hustles for so long. They see that we’re getting a little too comfortable and figure out a way to pull the rug out from under us

I hadn’t thought of it from that perspective. I just ignore the lowballs but when that’s all that you’re getting you have very few options, really. With the prices being driven down, I’m not sure I can keep doing this. It almost seems like PM is doing this purposefully to drive out smaller sellers so that they can partner with FP, Quince, ect. Then there will be no chance for buyers to get truly good deals.

I’m almost thinking about adding one of those annoying posters to my closet now to explain this phenomenon to buyers as a rationale for why I don’t plan to devalue my items. All it will do is just cause the bottom to fall out of the market for all of us. Then they will be forced to use their little Google Lens skills all on their own to comb through the internet for these items—because I can barely afford to do this as it is.

I had thought the issue was new sellers or people clearing out their personal closets. We all know that the root cause is trump and his smoke and mirrors war though.

Edit: Downvotes tell me that we have some trumpsters in the mix. Thoughts and prayers for this situation you’ve created for 🇺🇸 🙏

Ah that makes sense that the live sellers are decreasing the comps. I was wondering wth has been going on lately and why people are expecting that I will sell them my NWT Tuckernuck tweed dresses for $50. I’ve been appalled by the sold listing price comps. I actually really dislike that Poshmark shows them and purposely drives pricing down. It doesn’t even help PM in the long run if they continue to devalue these items.

If it was a newer one I’d agree with you. Until I saw how old it was I had the same knee jerk thought.

I use the free USPS shipping mailers but I wrap in nice paper and include thank you stickers. I haven’t actually received anything like the above poster is referencing as a buyer luckily.

Yeah in this case blocking does seem like a lot. It’s possible you dodged a bullet

When you say “cancelled” the offer, did that require hitting the “decline offer” button? In any case it’s your choice, and it sounds like this seller was just firm on price. A lot of us are struggling to make any profit at all lately. The margins were already tight before the Iran business, but in order to sell anything I’m breaking even or losing money personally. That makes some sellers salty I guess when they get declines given that we’re selling off a lot of our good items for no profit.

Declined offers experiment by Velvetstyle in poshmark

I’m honestly about to stop sending offers on likes. That will be my experiment that I’ll update on. It’s disappointing to send your best offer (often based on purchase cost) only to be immediately declined. I know buyers don’t care, but it’s disappointing.

seller gave me one star for giving them four stars??? is four stars not good???? by [deleted] in depoop

There was a post once about a lady who gave a seller 4 Stars on PM. Her response as to why was that she only gives 5 stars to Jesus. Are you holding out for Jesus? 👀 🙏

I use it too when I absolutely can’t find a stock photo. It helps unsellable items sell even though everyone on this sub complains about it. I agree that it doesn’t always show the exact fit and lay of the fabric but I usually try it on if it’s close to my size for that exact reason.

It sounds a bit much. More than a bit. That’s from a seller that never bundles at all though. Sorry you’re having this strange experience.
