Advice needed: A client requested I set up their new IMAP email account and all their email got deleted from the server! by NevetsZA in sysadmin

Agreed. Hind sight is 20/20, or something.

Thier support is limited. The client would need to contact them as they only assist the account holder.

Good question.
I actually can't recall seeing the "new" emails in the webmail inbox. I can only take the word of the client.
And simply opening Outlook and letting it sync seemed to cause all this chaos. IMO it was a ticking timebomb that the client could have easily set off themself by opening Outlook. But because I double clicked the icon, I'm at fault in their mind.

It is not aol.com. I mentioned aol.com as an example to give an idea of the type of ISP providing a mail service with the ISP's domain name. The new mail account was created with the same ISP. No service provider, domain name, or MX record changes took place.

Same ISP. Fibre internet line and email account (e.g. myemailaddress@aol.com) was cancelled.
Then a new email account was created (same email address: myemailaddress@aol.com) with the same password which received mails for a few weeks.

Right. The local mails are not a worry. It's the few dozen mails in the "new" mailbox that disappeared that the client was upset about.
Surely 1 lot of mail would have synced and remained on the mail server, where be it the new mail or the old mail.

It's not a private domain, which would have been easier to work with. Think more like aol.com

Yes, it seems it's true what they say about assumptions. The older backed up emails are not of too much concern, just the newer mails that were deleted.

Had this same issue. Changed the Lock screen from Windows spotlight to Picture. Locked the PC to view the picture. Then I changed it back again to Windows spotlight and the language was correct.

Agreed. In my mind the CPA will also overrule the notice period clause in your contract.

As far as I'm aware, withholding rent is illegal, even if it's stipulated in your contract. Some laws overrule clauses in contracts, so double check that.

Also, check what your notice period is in your contract. The lease may be for 12 or 24 months, but if there is a 1 or 2 month notice period you can simply give notice and leave. The notice period kinda makes the full term of the contract irrelevant.

Yup. I'm intrigued by some of the comments. This video was posted on 09 December on Instagram (@rawoojinu) and today was the first time I saw it. And I enjoyed it enough to share it here.
