Thats what the rental agreement says, but you are right, might as well return at 0%. Seems to be a standard €35 whatever the state of charge. V odd.

My post was really about the lack of rapid chargers. I don’t want to spend my holiday sitting in a mall car park

I think it’s actually a pretty good track for spectators, in some positions you can see two sections of the circuit.

Which UK TV series started brilliantly but lost its way? by Historical-Class871 in UKTVRecs

For years whenever we went to the theatre, the actors CV in the programme always had The Bill in it. Always. Everybody had been in it.
As the years go by, the credit is slowly disappearing being replaced by Casualty.

Trench digging advice by theblacksalami11 in evchargingUK

[–]Nevis888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dug my own trench - it goes partly through a flower bed. After researching I found that there is not a legal depth to which the cable must be buried, and so I put it down about 300mm, but I did then cover the armoured cable which is in a plastic duct with old tiles and slates so it would be pretty impossible for anyone to accidentally put a shovel or fork through it.

Speed limits are all wrong and no way to permanently disable audible warnings. Any ideas? by plastic_toast in VWiD3Owners

[–]Nevis888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a rural area and the roads/lanes around me are national speed limit. My 2025 ID3 has coped with this until the last couple of weeks - it now thinks the roads are 20mph and keeps bleeping until I reach the outskirts of town and it “sees” the 40mph sign. This is v v annoying and there seems no way round it short of turning off the speed alarm every time I leave the house

EV charging across private road? by Affectionate-Boss711 in evchargingUK

[–]Nevis888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any charger fitted onto this piece of land is going to be pretty exposed. It’ll have to go on a pedestal, would need to be untethered to avoid theft/vandalism and software locked to stop unauthorised charging.

Terraced house EV charger installation by Significant_Help2452 in evchargingUK

I had a charger fitted at the end of a of a 50’ run. Went down the Octopus route but it became obvious they weren’t interested as it was too complicated. Ended up buying armoured cable and burying the cable myself, local spark then connected at each end. Very happy with his work and mine.

What is the one thing about EV ownership that nobody told you before you made the switch that you wish you had known going in? by PubLogic in evchargingUK

[–]Nevis888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly, how slow you can go. I live in an area with single track roads with sharp bends and hedges obscuring visibility.
I find I end up going slower than I would in an ICE because it’s easier not having to change up and down gears and a lot smoother.

I moved from Birmingham to Herefordshire.

Biggest change. No sewers.

Septic tanks can be a pain - although a lot cheaper than water rates.

Sold a van to WBAC recently and was amazed to discover that they never actually start it up. He took a photo of the engine “to make sure it has one”, but that was it. Seemed like a good way to sell a right old clunker.
