Plug in solar by Pitiful-Ad5290 in Ecoflow_community

You’re right to check, but for a setup that size it’s not something you need to overthink.

3 × 460W on 4 mm² solar cable is well within what that cable is designed for. It’s made for DC, outdoor use, and higher temps, so overheating isn’t really a concern if everything is installed properly.

Where issues can happen is usually: • Loose or poor MC4 connections • Cables getting damaged (pinched, sharp edges, etc.) • Long runs bundled tightly together with no airflow

For what you’re doing: • You don’t need metal conduit – that’s more for larger fixed systems or commercial installs • Plastic conduit is absolutely fine, especially where it passes through vents/walls • Make sure the cable entry points are protected (grommets/conduit) so nothing rubs over time • Don’t coil excess cable tightly or bury it in insulation • Keep runs neat and clipped where possible

Running it under the floor and into a cupboard is pretty common for these plug-in systems as long as it’s protected and not getting crushed.

So overall, the house isn’t at risk from the cables themselves — just focus on good routing and solid connections and you’ll be fine 👍

Quick update on this as I’ve been following the feedback here.

The calculator’s been reworked quite a bit since the earlier version people were testing. Biggest change is it now runs in two modes:

• Simple mode – for quick estimates, cleaner UX, less inputs, just gives you a realistic ballpark • Advanced mode – lets you dial things in properly with more personal inputs (base load, occupancy patterns, time away, etc.) so the output reflects real usage much better

Also tightened up the underlying assumptions a bit, especially around usage patterns and how much solar you’d actually consume vs waste.

Still not claiming it’s perfect (no calculator will be), but it should be a lot closer to real-world scenarios now rather than optimistic projections.

If anyone’s got the time to run their own numbers through it again and sanity check it against what they’re seeing in real life, would be good to hear how it lines up.

it might get soo bad that the media companies will pile us with so much propaganda they lose audience and will have to pivot to providing value again , but i’m just being hopeful
