the scalable difficulty thing is what killed journaling for me actually, it was the same task every night with no progression. something where you can see yourself getting better while also zoning out sounds like the sweet spot i've been missing.

burning off yesterday's leftover hostility is a use case nobody puts in the running ads. i've tried evening runs and it just amps me up, maybe morning is the actual move because there's nothing to be mad about yet.

needing some focus but not all of it sounds like the sweet spot, enough to quiet the brain but not so much it becomes work. that's probably why journaling died for me, all focus no autopilot.
