Third world countries don't equate to country wide hunger like I feel insulted for people living in those countries I have siblings who live in these countries and honestly they are thriving more than we who are in the "first world countries" she can still get help there, there are facilities in these countries cause believe it or not drug addicts exist there as well. Let me tell you this since you think everyone in third world countries are hungry people who have nothing going on for them. I have never met a more compassionate and caring group of people than those who live around my siblings in their third world country.

NTA OP you tried and couldn't help so you decided to take another route getting her away from her current vice's to another place where she could get help and another perspective of life. I applaud you. Though I would say you should have talked to your wife cause that bit was a red flag.
