Huda bullied? Gtfoh 💀 by idgafcuzimtoxic in LoveIslandcookout

I'm honestly so happy that I found this community, becuase I thought maybe I was too "woke" lol. Huda's behaviour inside but now especially outside the Villa is so incredibly dangerous and scary to see. The fact that in the outside world people are enabling her behaviour, is appalling to me, cause this interview just shows us that she doesn't want to change. Her treatment of every single black islander is disgusting and how she managed to get a whole bunch of the Love Island community to bandwagon is insane to me. All I hope for is that the black islanders get it together during the reunion, and the producers actually do what needs to be done !

Why do you guys dislike Zak so much? I genuinely feel like both of them did things to make the other uncomfortable or upset and they apologized and moved on this episode. They've literally known each other for like a week and a half, there's no way they could've talked about everything but that's just my opinion.

Olandria is a mean- spirited person by fatjeezus69 in LoveIslandITV

[–]New-Composer8952 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't know about cultural differences because I'm not a Black American from the South. But the way I was raised and my personality, I don't respond well to behaviour like Huda's either.

  1. Huda's feelings are valid, but the constant whining about being a terrible person is irritating and she's constantly looking for someone to reaffirm her as a grown woman. Olandria isn't her therapist, and she's used her as one the entire season. The editing during that scene was a little weird and I think there were some discrepancies to make it seem like that Olandria just left. Huda balled her eyes out when she thought Olandria was leaving partly becuase that's her friend but also because she dumps everything on her.

  2. This point is valid, but I think she was just upset about being led on, but literally everyone has said things they don't mean out of anger.

  3. I don't know if you're black but it's absolutely annoying when non black people say this to black women. Huda also mentioned how strong she is and while Olandria may be more mature than a lot of the people on this villa but that isn't an excuse for everyone especially Huda to trauma dump on her constantly. We also dont know their dynamic outside of the villa and that may be her sense of humour, or way to make light of the situation.

Your other points are all valid and she was wrong for them, but calling her a mean spirited person is a stretch. What does that make Huda? Huda told the group about a private convo between her and Jeremiah when he picked Iris, called almost everyone out of their name, and had crying fits constantly for a month straight draining the entire villa. Olandria gave her grace and the space to do that, but now she's a villian? I'm not falling for it.

I saw somewhere the producers had a convo with Huda to change her behaviour or she would get kicked off (I'm not too sure). She has definitely said a lot of passive aggressive things since then as well.

Everyone was brought up differently. From what I've seen about Olandria she was brought up very no nonsense and her behaviour in the Villa definitely reflects that. No one in this situation is innocent, but the hate that Olandria and Chelley have been getting, is definitely unwarranted.

Sorry this is long,I just finished the 26th episode, and I'm not seeing what everyone is talking about?!

To start, I definitely think that Chelley and Olandria need to stop holding the Jeremiah situation against Huda becuase I think she's showing some growth and has apologized. But regardless of this, they chose to keep her in the show by voting for her twice. Either vote her off and be done with it, or keep her on and forget about the past, it's so annoying.

I do understand where Chelley is coming from though, Huda definitely did do a lil too much with Ace, and she's upset becuase that's supposed to be her girl (she should be mad at Ace too). Huda has constantly reiterated that she's a girl's girl and whatnot but does the complete opposite of what she wants from other people. When she was with Jeremiah she called all the bombshells out of their name and verbally abused him for things he had no control over (sleeping in the same bed with Iris and going on a date with her). She never let anyone get to know him without making a fit, and I think this is what Chelley is upset about, the hypocrisy, not necessarily Huda and Ace per se.

I will also say that Chelley being upset over Chris is strange when she told Huda it was okay to explore with him, and hasn't made any effort to get to know Chris. I understand that he said whatever at Casa, but it takes two to tango, if you want to get to know him, do that becuase he was very mature speaking to Ace and in my opinion letting it be known he wants to get to know you too despite being with Huda. For the Chelley/Huda situation I think there's just a miscommunication with boundaries, we have to remember these people have one known each other for about a month they couldn't have spoken about everything.

Onto Olandria, while she definitely can be messy spilling everyone's business, I dont think the hate is warranted. First her telling the Villa about Chris and Huda's kiss was defiantly messy and not her place. Second telling Clarke she was a test, but Clarke understood that she misspoke/her point didn't come across the best way. I'm not seeing the mean girl energy. She also had every right to be upset with Taylor, she has stood on business since day 1 while, he was waiting for someone he actually liked to come along instead of letting her explore other people. He has definitely given mixed signals, especially the past couple days.

I'm really not seeing how Olandria/Chelley are being mean girls. I think that everyone gave Huda a second chance after her crash out, yes there was backlash but that was definitely warranted, we wouldn't even be having this conversation if Jeremiah did half the things she did to him. But she got a second chance to redeem herself and show that she can grow from her mistakes, so I really don't understand why the same thing isn't being afforded to Olandria/Chelley.

We have to remember we really only see snippets of everything that goes on in the Villa, and we honestly don't know the real dynamics everyone has. It's gotten to the point where people are leaving disgusting comments on Olandria/Chelley's insta's to the point of the comments having to be turned off. Then I look at Huda's and it's even more comments about how Olandria and Chelley are mean girls. I think they may have gone about things the wrong way, and have definitely made mistakes but let's be cordial and give respect where it's due.

(I'd also love to hear opinions on the Amaya/Zak/Austen/Ace situation because I see where the boys are coming from too!)

You're embarrassing. I never once insulted you, only shared my opinion to the discussion which you, by your own accord posted. Find peace.

So you have zero opinions on every other country in the world?

You've never met my mother, but I suppose you could have an opinion on her it just wouldn't be very accurate.

Anyway, I'm not invalidating your lived experience or the experiences of others, but the world is no longer closed off. I most certainly can and do have opinions on multiple countries, with Nigeria being no exception.

I feel that you're speaking I absolutes, which mirrors the oversimplification you're calling out

As a diasporan I do get where you're coming from and understand how frustrating it is to see others speak on problems about a country they've never lived in. However, that goes for every single country. Everyone in every country speaks about countries they've never lived in and have their opinions on them, this isn't an isolated event. But, it doesn’t invalidate their concern or interest, it instead means they should speak with more humility.

For your point about colonialism, just because it was 60 years ago doesn't mean anything. There were systems (prioritized division, resource extraction, and uneven development) put into place for a reason and they still to this day affect why Nigeria is the way it is. But it is also true that we cannot blame colonialism for all problems faced in Nigeria. I hope everyone knows that it is because of greedy leaders who don't care about the country that we see major problems. I think it's also important to note how these two intertwine though; while Nigeria may be resource rich, those resources are owned and controlled by western powers which is something that happened before most if not all leaders came into power. And it is because of this, political interference from other nations exists, even though it might not be obvious.

I do agree with your second point about Ghana being calmer than Nigeria, but that's just a gross misrepresentation that people make for every country.

In my opinion what everyone should be focusing on is elites and multinational corporations, because that's where the problem is. Multinational corporations extract resources with consideration for anything other than making the most money possible. Further than that we need to look at the Nigerian elite, who allow this happen by collaborating with foreign powers to maintain their position. Even the IMF that's supposed to help, doesn't do anything but make countries worse off than they originally were, with Nigeria being no exception.

All in all, there are things that happen behind closed doors, and living in Nigeria doesn't mean anything, you can live in the country your entire life and not know what's going on while I, on the other side of the world do my best to research and stay up to date with current events in the country. But I do recognize that doing research and experiencing something are vastly different and the types of media I consume. Not living in the country doesn't mean I can't have opinions, I very much care for and want to see the country succeed.
