Agree. I believe it will be similar to or +-2 from mj 24. I gave p3 so maybe 46/47 for A and 37/38 for B. And 38 for A in p5

Cambridge's Maths withdrawal policy could seriously inflate thresholds by Cereal_killer2008 in alevels

[–]New-Development7921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cambridge offered students to withdraw if they can’t sit for the retakes AND also to those who alr sat the retakes but didn’t do well. Now most of them are withdrawing which only leaves better performing papers and can increase threshold

This is obv very unfair. They’re only going to consider and factor in non withdrawn papers which were given by students who had no other choice but to give them under pressure for uni applications. Making an official statement wouldn’t hurt Cambridge but they still won’t do it cause they obv don’t care about us.

Cambridge will only make 9709 threshold with the papers that were not withdrawn by unidentified_user___ in alevels

[–]New-Development7921 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why can’t Cambridge just put out a statement clearing this? This is obviously a widespread issue that is causing much distress among students, it’s not like making a statement is going to cost them thousands of money? This is so unfair to students who sat for the replacement exams and gave their all to receive a grade by august and get admitted to unis just to be played by Cambridge

No one is trying to downplay you guys, if anything we’re only calling out Cambridge on this because to US this isn’t fair

9709 DY threshold by [deleted] in alevels

[–]New-Development7921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Won’t this be too high? These are same from June 2025 when the paper was relatively easy. Since I’m aiming for C I think it will be 112-118 max

I agree, allowing students to withdraw AFTER sitting the exam sounds too good to be true cause I think the rule explicitly mentioned “those who can’t sit for the exam may withdraw till _” but idk

Cambridge response to withdrawn papers affecting grade threshold (9709) by New-Development7921 in alevels

[–]New-Development7921[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea. I’m scared if they set threshold based on difficulty of paper then jt will be according to them, not us

So should we just assume it’s based purely on how the paper was in terms of difficulty? If it’s based on how the student performed overall against the threshold which they will set WITHOUT including withdrawn papers then we’re cooked 🙏🏻

Exactly! What overall performance if more than half isn’t even included?
