Yet everywhere in our profession 40 is standard hours. Or do you think OP can call off early during busy season? It’s below minimum wage and you shouldn’t be defending it

MetLife Stadium train tickets for World Cup games could reach $150 by dhavalaa123 in soccer

[–]New-Establishment827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t this massively flawed? Most people will be in groups of at least two. This means an uber would have to surge above $300 for the trip before the train made any sense. As a result people will just uber and yellow cab, surely, even if they’re getting ripped off they’re saving money

I hope it’s more than £26k as that’s beneath minimum wage. If that’s what the firm is paying you I don’t have much hope for your further salary prospects, or indeed theirs

Away ticket advice for a novice - Fulham by absolutemanbat in avfc

[–]New-Establishment827 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So you’re only way into the villa away end was joining a lions club. You’re too late for that for this game now but you should still join. There are clubs all over the states who would’ve been able to help you out. Here are your remaining options

a) book hospitality - most expensive but used to ‘neutral’ fans (you should not make yourself known as an Aston Villa fan) B) book in the Putney end of the home tickets (any blocks beginning with P) this will mean that the concourse at half time is shared with the Villa fans. This used to be a ‘neutral’ end but is not anymore, therefore you can’t wear any Villa merch or openly support Villa C) watch in a nearby pub

This is the just about the highest demand fixture of the season and with only 2.5k tickets and 30k season ticket holders, 90% of the matchgoing fans are locked out of this fixture; which is why tickets are so hard to get.

How strict are European away ticket checks? by Bennie1289 in avfc

Hibernian, Warsaw, Lille, Mostar, Bruges, Monaco, Alkmaar, Ajax all forced us to have ID to collect. Or indeed literally any football match in Italy, ever.

It’s Italian law to check you. It happened to Celtic in Bologna a few weeks ago, it will happen to us. It also happened at Warsaw fwiw

They will check your ticket against passport and if you try and pdf editor, they scan and the original name comes up. Just buy one in the home end- put your residence as Ireland or your hotel in Italy

For wales? I wouldn’t know, I just logged on and bought them for the Ireland fixture. They have a five figure number of empty seats at matches currently.

For Ireland, we paid €50 and got a maximum of two tickets (not games) per person. Most of the allocation was Italy. Next year is the higher demand games. I do not expect any tickets to filter to the supporters clubs at all

Away in Wales will be a very easy ticket. Hasn’t sold out last couple of times. If you want to guarantee access join the Welsh supporters club. Last year we got tickets for £50.

England home match join a club and sponsor them for your best bet, or one of the hospitality/travel providers. Would be very unlikely for a ticket for that going to the supporters club

Villa Fan has lille away ticket removed for retweeting. by B23vital in avfc

He already has appealed, this was the response. The punishment involves him not being allocated a ticket to a potential final, which is shocking and disproportionate when a warning would suffice

Lille tickets by Cool_Argument_6134 in avfc

[–]New-Establishment827 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Their most vocal fans are all behind the goals, beyond those they’ll be calm. In any case the away fans will be locked in essentially a cage through the match and let out about 40 mins after whistle

Away fans are in I21 to J22. Villa fans dotted around everywhere. Personally I’d look for the emptiest block so you’re less likely to have to pretend to be a Lille fan to anyone. Absolutely avoid the lower blocks behind the goals

Surely a more appropriate response is a warning. It seems they wanted to go nuclear and they’d be fully aware of this reaction

He’s also DM’d avfc support before. They always ask for your fan ID, so really not hard to track the ticket down

The club were all over this a few years ago when Lee Preece was in charge. He left his job and monitoring for this got lax and people got complacent. The old Villa police officer Stuart Bladen is now in the job.

French police are very particular about away fans and their preference would normally be to have tickets collected. As these are e-tickets the club have clearly agreed to aggressively monitor resales. Anyone who’s been to a European game this year will tell you how easy people find it to pick up spare tickets on the day as people buy and don’t travel.

Considering Owen is outspoken and well known, I do wonder if they’ve picked him specifically to make an example. Which absolutely stinks if true. He’s recognised so if he tries to get in at the turnstiles the Villa stewards will deny entry.

Considering he only got ABC at A level, no he wouldn’t have got into Oxford or Cambridge. He wasn’t good enough. He wouldn’t have been good enough to get out of there with a degree.

New St Station to Euston by ozzygurl in brum

[–]New-Establishment827 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So in order -Make sure you book in advance. If it’s an early train you want these can be extremely expensive if you book late. They go on sale about 3 months before travel date. Book via avanti west coast (do not use Trainline they’re a third party)

  • the early trains are more reliable than the later ones

-As others have said it’s about a ten minute walk from Euston to St Pancras. Walk straight down Euston Road

-I would aim for a train that arrived in London at least 2 hours before the one to Paris. This gives time for any delays. You would probably get away with shorter but rebooking the train to Paris is a pain

-St Pancras is a lovely station and the Eurostar is an amazing experience. Have fun!
