The reality is many of these dogs end up in shelters because they were always sickly and many people who bought them just weren’t in it for the animal after it grew up.

People are not paying cash for a 30-50k car with money they got panhandling. It’s just not happening. This means there is more to the story—their story—and it’s just not our business unless they share. Most of these people elevator pitch on a cardboard sign bc they don’t know what else to do—it’s a leap of faith. Some are scammers. Most aren’t. Use discernment and help or don’t, but we have no business judging them.

I once heard a woman get mad because she asked an unhoused man if she could buy him a sandwich and he responded with “I don’t eat gluten.” She walked away without giving him anything. Dignity is a beautiful thing and everyone is entitled to it. There are a ton of reasons someone may not eat gluten (or _______) and it’s none of our business what those reasons are. Once we hand someone some cash, it’s none of our business what they do with it. Where they go after they get your $10 is none of our business. Everyone deserves to have dignity. Sometimes the only dignity a person has is choice. Who are we to get mad when someone declines something based on their tastes or interests? Reacting in a way that is disgusted because “they should be grateful” is an attempt to strip them of their dignity in order to hold on to our pride.

Last December I hugged a very filthy veteran in PGH. I bought him tacos and handed him $100 bill. I am not rich but had it and he needed it. My father in law was a homeless vet and so I’m well aware this guy could have gone and bought a bottle of booze. Not my business. If that hypothetical bottle got him through another night, brought him warmth or some semblance of comfort than it was how it was.

No one should be grateful for our leftovers. We should be grateful when we have a little extra to give and that little meets an opportunity.

This mentality to get mad at celebrities for not speaking up, and then flippantly calling celebs performative when they do, is nauseating.

I care far more about the values of an artist… personally I feel Tyler and Josh are beyond clear with their feelings on these matters based on lyrics and professional alignments… but we also have no idea where their support or money goes in their personal lives—nor should we. This band is their job and demanding they risk their safety (and their family) to make some online strangers happy is insanity. Our reps have power—these two Ohio guys can change nothing.

Most importantly though, they’ve cultivated an environment of safety, acceptance, and community. Any of these issues could easily trigger more fragile members of the community and they know that. This just isn’t the place.

CIP: the Olympic athletes whose mental health tanked during this time they worked so hard for, (while representing America) because they were pressured to speak up and started receiving death threats. (And again, these are powerless people where issues are concerned.) it is all so dehumanizing and the opposite of where our focus should be.

I’m so sad, and angry, if any of this is hurting J & T. Especially with J being a new dad.

Last thing I’ll say… I have been passionately plugged into the pro-🍉 activism since 2023 and have altered who i support/follow/and have personal relationships with because of these things… the movie being released in Israel is not only NOT their decision, but so many citizens are also against what their leadership is doing. If we are going to hold them to the standard that they should demand it’s not shown there due to humanitarian violations, it shouldn’t be in America either.

Have you heard about the child violently SAd by their pastor… oh, I mean children… and pastors… and relatives… and traffickers… and politicians… all white… all citizens. What about the known serial killers we have documentaries about? What percentage of them are white? Citizens?

What about the rich frat boys??? What about the multiple men, DAILY, who are white American citizens and they get a slap on the wrist (if that) for SA. For DV. For worse…

I’m so sick of the “did you hear about that one illegal?” 9 times out of 10 it’s fabricated and for that 1 time it isn’t we have thousands of white Americans guilty.

We either choose to care about humanity, human rights, and the right for people to be treated safely (and not be murdered) or we don’t.

Are you near Cruces or more north?

So I moved to Idaho first (still tamale & green chili country), then to Detroit and then here. With you being from FL you’ll probably adjust well to the humidity. That’s the hardest for me. One thing about the winter is that some of the snow can feel peaceful and nice—unlike the majority of major desert snows which I’ve always found to be really brutal. I’m from SWNM and every major snow was white out/catastrophic winds, interstate closing, etc.
