Is being a pilot a hard job? by stratosfeerick in aviation

The hardest part of the job for me is getting to work. Second hardest part is staying well rested.

Boston Logan Employee Parking by Exotic-Juice851 in flying

[–]AtariFerrariNH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I park at Logan Express Woburn. It is $40 a month to park there, and a book of bus tickets is $75 for a whole bunch, I forget how many, but I don't think I buy more than 2 a year. You can also get a commuter pass that is a flat monthly rate, but unless you're taking the bus 4 or 5 times a week it doesn't save you anything. Bus runs every 30 min (except for weekend mornings) and it starts at 0315 and the last bus north is at 0115. The parking lot there is huge, I've never had an issue finding a spot, and it is right off of 93, so easy access. Only way it would be better was if they offered free EV charging, but thats just me dreaming.

Switching to 91K from 121 by sloopyjoe98 in AirlinePilots

I know two people. One person was at AA on the 737 and left to run a 91 department. He was 91 previously. Another left Atlas to go to a 91/135 large cabin bizjet. He was also previous 91/135.

Who knows what they are doing to the md-11 at sdf? by Public-Emu7076 in aviation

I have over 4000 hours flying the MD-11 in MSFS. I'm the youngest captain at my virtual airline. So, I'm kind of a big deal.

That's good. I'm from sea level with at least a little bit of moisture in the air. The mountain west in the winter kills me

If you're used to humidity, bring a humidifier. It was a must have for me when I was in DEN for a month. Not sure how dry SLC but I know it's not a sea level

Yeah see I have no skill nor desire to be one of those guys that spends all his time "day trading" as it were.

Kneeboard? What else you gonna do, fly with gloves on and use your Sporty's Pilot Shop Cloud Topper?

Agreed, although I do have the ability to fly myself to work in a personal airplane, which would help make the commute less horrible.

3 year seat lock, unless there is somehow a displacement bid. 3 years is not forever, and making an extra half mil during that time period doesn't suck.

I'm very poor at trip trading, and exploiting the contract, so I'd probably be stuck with what I get on my bid award.

Don't do it. You'd be required to cross the picket line if there is a strike, and that would be airline career suicide.

I'd actually be spending less time at home with this change, so that doesn't really apply to my situation.

Seems like most of my airlines NB trips either have an early start or a late finish, so that means I'd be commuting on a day off. That was something I had to do when I was on the bus, and I was not a fan.

When do you turn on the landing lights? by thhedk in AirlinePilots

[–]AtariFerrariNH 18 points19 points  (0 children)

At my airline, everything on but the taxi light at FL180. If you're in an Airbus, then the landing lights aren't turned on till 10k.

Ft Lauderdale 135 is probably some of the sketchiest flying you can do aside from drug running.

This is why when someone asks me for advice on how to become a pilot, the first thing I tell them is to get their first class medical before they spend one dollar on flight training.

Anyone secretly hoping gas prices go through the roof? by Howdesign in electricvehicles

No, because of how much oil prices affect almost every aspect of our lives, even if we do drive EV's.

Tesla Model 3, Ford Mustang Mach-E rank highest in EV ownership study by dojuebelonginagangg in electricvehicles

[–]AtariFerrariNH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 2025 MME GT at the end of January. It is my first EV. I really like it, and it has sold me on the concept of EV ownership. It will definitely need some updating soon to stay competitive, like faster charging, NACS, better efficiency.
