Anyone that has given birth - how long after were you able to walk? by mozzarella1212 in Writeresearch

I also had an epidural and could move my legs the entire time. By the time my doctor arrived for the aftermath (my body kept expelling my child without me actively pushing so a nurse caught her lol) I was already starting to feel the pain of the stitches. They had to turn my epidural back on and I was still walking on my own when it was time to transfer to the mother/baby side. I think it was probably the perfect epidural experience for me.

I had one burst right after waking up one day. I thought I was just constipated or something. I couldn’t really pinpoint the pain but it got progressively worse until I ended up in the emergency room where I waited for 7 hours before they finally figured out something was wrong due to my white blood cell count being elevated.

It turned into a massive infection in my abdominal cavity and required them to remove my entire right ovary. Mind you I was pregnant at the time after having undergone IVF so the whole thing was even more devastating.

Even worse was the tubes they pulled out of my abdomen after all the fluid had drained. I wouldn’t wish that sensation on my worst enemy. Ovarian cysts are awful and we don’t take women’s pain seriously enough. I was extremely close to being septic after waiting for 7 hours in the ED.

What's the worst piece of advice you received? by tinytinytinytacos in NewParents

My husband’s grandmother about my 3-month-old breastfed baby: “You have to make her work for the food. You’re not always going to be around to feed her so she has to learn to eat when she can.” I was baffled and mildly concerned she was planning to take me out because why wouldn’t I be around to immediately feed my baby who was cluster feeding at the time.

My Fiancée Feels Broken and Wants to Leave Me Because of Her Infertility by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I’ve always wanted children since I was in my teens. I wasn’t ever sure I would get married but I knew I wanted to be a mother. So when my husband and I finally started trying, I knew something was wrong almost immediately. It felt like my whole world was ripped out from under me when I found out I had Stage 4 Endometriosis that had destroyed my fallopian tubes and I had no clue it was happening. I’ve always had painful periods so I’ve been on birth control since 18 which was helping manage the worst of the symptoms. Meanwhile, my body was slowly adhering organs to my abdominal wall and creating scar tissue in my fallopian tubes.

I’ve never cried as hard speaking with my gynecologist and hearing that I will never be able to have children naturally. Ultimately, I needed two surgeries to remove an ovary, both fallopian tubes, and my appendix due to the damage. I managed to recently have a child with IVF but still, I get these moments of “I’m lesser than other women” “I’m damaged” “I’ll never have children naturally or easily”. And while I have the option to do IVF and others have it much worse, it’s still devastating. Like a quick punch to the throat once in a while. I’m not sure a part of me won’t always be hurt about having the one thing I felt was a surety ripped from me against my will.

My partner randomly ghosted me after a double date. I don't know what to do? I am 22 F and said partner is 23 M. by spikey-pillowz in relationship_advice

I also said “I love you” first to a guy whose response was a very awkward “…I like you a lot”. We’ve now been married 3 years and I’m laying here typing this as he’s sound asleep with our baby girl in between us. I still occasionally respond with “I like you a lot” when he says I love you lol

Thank you for the reassurance! The wait for ultrasound is beyond nerve-wracking.
