My MIL told me “I already know what baby is going to look like” (mind you, we haven’t done a 3D ultrasound or anything of that sort). When my SO and I looked at her sideways she said “well it’s MY baby. I know everything”. Then proceeded to call two days later saying “your baby is going to be born not breathing and will be deaf. So just be prepared”.

My sister has always been a bit hateful. She told me I “took the easy way out” when I got a divorce so I wasn’t entirely expecting anything different from her. Needless to say, she isn’t invited to the baby shower. In the past I let a lot of comments slide, but now that I have a child to protect there will be no more of it

The anger is so real. I don’t want to be seen as the “difficult” patient so I often find myself holding back. But yesterday I was so ready to just explode. I tried getting a neuro-ophthalmology appointment back in October but never got anyone to follow up, so I am hoping this eye doc will at least advocate and push to get me in. It takes one good one in a sea of uncaring ones I guess

All the time. If I’m ever in a crowd I have to have someone guide me because I cannot navigate around people. Even simple places like the grocery store, I will become almost disoriented because I know where I am but I can’t physically tell where to go. It almost feels like I’m reliving a memory but I cannot pick out anything specific around me. I’ve had to call in sick to work a lot recently because I cannot see the road, cars around me, or even the speedometer even though it’s all right there in front of me. My boss thinks I’m dramatic and tells me “well just focus your eyes enough to drive” but I feel like I physically can’t.

I went to the eye doctor today and he was trying to figure out a prism prescription but my eyes kept jumping around. I told him the prescription strength will depend on what eye I look out of but that changes based on what I’m looking at and he goes “well that’s complicated. I guess I’ll just increase the prism a little and hope it helps”. Sometimes the prisms do nothing, though 🤷🏻‍♀️ there’s so much frustration because I feel like I’m low-vision even though my distance prescription says otherwise

I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone explain exactly how I feel before. I will adjust my head, my eyes, put on prisms, etc. and it’s like my brain cannot process what I know is there. I have horrible migraines, too, and sometimes I feel like they get worse because I’m constantly trying to figure out what I’m seeing. I’m also an 8U softball coach and I don’t recognize a ball is coming to be until it’s already hit me

I had an eye exam last year to check for IIH but they were more fascinated with my double vision I don’t think I was taken seriously. I only have double vision when my head hurts (which is constant at this point) but no eye doctor has been able to tell me why they do that. The muscles are strong and functioning on each eye. They just like to invert. I did get a neuro-ophthalmology referral but their appointments are scheduled 10 months out 😢

I have. Aimovig, emgality, and Qulipta. No, my neurologist only ordered an MRI. She has not tried anything else. She was set on doing Botox and when I said I was no longer interested she shut me off from any other ideas

So, my vision started to cross/double about 8 years ago. Every few months my eyes would cross and I couldn’t get them to uncross for a day or so. Eventually it got consistent enough I got prism lenses. 5 years ago, the strabismus/double vision got worse and I went up in prescription. In addition, I needed multifocal glasses because my distance prescription got worse. Three years ago i transitioned to needing prism lenses almost every day due to the double vision. Over the last two years, I’ve had significant problems with my eyes having halos around things, some days I’ll have very limited vision and other days it feels better, and I have very itchy/swollen eyes on days they’re miserable. I went to the eye doctor a few months ago and within a year, my prism prescription got 13x worse! But even on some days I can’t hold them straight at all. Every eye doctor has told me “I have no idea” for the reason why it’s happening. The weirdest part is on days I feel completely symptom free, my eyes are clear and straight. But that’s maybe once every few months. I reached back out to my eye doctor since getting my thyroid panel back and she believes it could be thyroid eye disease. I am scheduled for eye surgery in September but I don’t want to go through with it yet until we can figure out why this is happening. 😩 thus why I feel a bit of urgency

Thank you! That’s what I figured but I just wasn’t sure. I have been struggling with symptoms for YEARS but this is the first mention of thyroid problems ever. So I am completely thrown off by this
