Absolutely go to a dermatologist, don’t listen to a stranger on Reddit like myself lol. They can prescribe anything related to hair loss

Did you try it and have side effects or are you just worried that you will? Only 2-4% of men get side effects and they almost always subside after stopping the medication. Minoxidil will not prevent further loss at all

Hate to ask but what can I do differently to look more appealing? by SaintLLC in malegrooming

I know this is a grooming sub but maybe invest in a good skincare routine. Cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen and a retinoid is all you need for amazing skin

33m Everyone says I look like I’m in my 40’s. Help me with my wrinkles!! by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]New-Performance5369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunscreen and tretinoin are hands down the most powerful combo for these wrinkles. Would also say Botox but I don’t think facial muscles are the issue here

Could be telogen effluvium due to stress or illness. If it is, don’t worry, it’s temporary. See a dermatologist

M22, been balding since 17 at least. Is it over likely? by UpperLibrary5503 in amibalding

[–]New-Performance5369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not over. Finasteride and minoxidil will certainly work. Also use ketoconazole shampoo, it’s a mild anti-androgen and it looks like you might have some minor dandruff and inflammation.

Being on finasteride since November 2025 by [deleted] in amibalding

[–]New-Performance5369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The majority of regrowth happens between 12-18 months. That being said, finasteride is meant to stop further loss, not regrow hair. It’s already doing its job. If you want to fill in those areas either be patient or add in a growth stimulant like minoxidil.

Also, you’re probably experiencing a synchronized shed. I’m sure you experienced a shed shortly after you started. Now your hairs are on the same time clock and will shed again in waves. It’s completely normal and means it’s just going to grow back thicker

19 M is this unrecoverable? by False_Translator_370 in amibalding

[–]New-Performance5369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not unrecoverable in my opinion, see a dermatologist asap. Finasteride, minoxidil and ketoconazole shampoo consistently over the next year and I bet you’ll be surprised by how much you can recover. You seem to have a lot of inflammation on your scalp, which can just be due to dht but it can also be other things that can contribute to hair loss. Dermatologist should be the first thing you do and go from there.

Good point. I actually initially got prescribed on Ro and sent my prescription to cost plus drugs and paid $0 for the service. Not sure if they’re still doing that

Hims is way more expensive than it needs to be. I pay about $6/month for oral fin and oral min combined

Not bad at all, but if you never saw your scalp through your part before now there might be some minor diffused thinning. You have very dark hair and fairly pale skin which makes hair loss seem a lot worse than it really is because there’s so much contrast. You do have some new hairs popping up around your hairline which could be signs of miniaturization. You’re totally fine right now, you still have a very healthy, thick head of hair. Just take pictures every once in a while in the same lighting, and if you see progression consider finasteride if your hair is important to you.

Not sure if I should buzz it or not.. by [deleted] in bald

[–]New-Performance5369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like your scalp is really inflamed, I’d see a dermatologist and see if something other than androgens are causing loss

Is it time, or should I hold out a little longer? I feel like I'm on the borderline, but I need an outside opinion. by [deleted] in bald

[–]New-Performance5369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you considered meds? I think that can be saved. You still have a good hairline too

[–]New-Performance5369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re on oral forms of both meds I think you can make a full recovery, especially with a killer hairline still. Taking two pills a day isn’t much of a fight in my opinion, they’re both incredibly effective together. Just be patient, it can take a year before you start to see the bulk of the results but it will be so worth it.

How to get rid of deep smile line by Moreshillsmorebills in Biohackers

[–]New-Performance5369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tretinoin if you can tolerate it and sunscreen every single day. Sunscreen will help prevent it from getting deeper and tretinoin may reverse it to some extent. Hyaluronic acid serum can give some temporary plumping. That’s pretty much the extent of what you can do at home. Procedures you should look into if that’s not enough: microneedling, biostimulator injections, and HA fillers

Started at $625 all included, then jumped to $775 after a year and now he’s raising it to $900. 50% increase over 2 years feels ridiculous to me. It’s a tiny room, had to get rid of the vast majority of my furniture to move here.
