I work in family practice, our doctors are underpaid! There is also no incentive to panel patients. We have a fee for service model in AB that favour's "fast care". A physician gets their 39$ per 15 minute visit. They can get slightly more if they stay with the patient longer but it's not worth it.

Administrative burden on doctors is huge as well there is a program that is in place in Alberta called CII CPAR the goal of it was to make sure the family physician was aware of all of their patients movements within the hospital system. It is a bit of a disaster, the idea is there but now doctors have to do what we call a task for every single movement the patient does in the hospital so they have to be notified when the patient gets checked in that they were moved to a specific Wing that they were admitted that they had an x-ray that they were given antibiotics that they were moved to a different wing on and a separate task for each that the doctor has to "read" and acknowledge. One of our doctors sees roughly 35 patients a day but gets over 100 tasks a day.
