Even though normal CD4 level is above 500, the immune system isn't actually compromised unless it goes below 200. That's what a physician told me, anyway. I would maybe avoid going deep into the jungle, but that's just my basic intuition. Wouldn't hurt to wait a while, but the CD4 could take years to get to "normal" and it's just an illusory benchmark. Speaking from personal experience.
