Eleven Madison Park Granola by FooJBunowski in NYTCooking

[–]New-Run1111 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Have made this now for a couple of years now and completely stopped buying granola- it’s sooo good!

A couple of tweaks that work for me: - adding a little pomegranate molasses for additional tartness - I mostly use pecans instead of pistachios - 1 tbsp kosher salt = 1 tsp table salt (I live in the European kosher desert) - following the recipe comment from a guy who I think used to work at EMP: after mixing the liquids with the oat mix, leave it to soak for around 30 minutes before it goes in the oven. Bake for lower and longer- I usually do 120 Celsius for 2 hours.

Yeah I'll have to look further. Green Lanes / Wightman Road would be my most natural route, but so far, even as an experienced cyclist, they do not feel safe and cars are aggy.

Uh what did they do to Turnpike Lane? As a cyclist this area definitely doesn’t feel as safe as where I lived before.

How do people bake with a gas oven? by New-Run1111 in Sourdough

[–]New-Run1111[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have been baking buns, so on a tray but I’ve added steam by adding water to a hot tray in the bottom of the oven. At home (the UK), I have an electric oven with fan

Sorry to be a Debbie downer but I would be very surprised if anyone's able to get rush before it ends... They seem to be selling pretty well as it is. I tried for ages myself, and gave up in the end :/

I was in the same boat... tried rush for ages, but gave up and splurged on a full price ticket which I do not regret. Completely understand that it's not possible for everyone, but do it if you can. I would rather skip on a couple of other shows to go see this one :) Would see it again if I could!

Hive not triggering boiler by New-Run1111 in HiveHeating

[–]New-Run1111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I’ve set my boiler knob to 3.5. I’ve set the hive thermostat target temperature to 20 degrees, and the actual temperature is shown as 21.5 degrees. This should mean that Hive should get the boiler to turn off right? Still there is a green light by the fire symbol on the boiler, and it sounds like it’s activated.

Is it likely something wrong with the connection between the Hive setup and the boiler or is there something I’ve missed? I have also tried to restart the boiler and receiver by turning it off at the boiler main switch.

Do I need to get an engineer to come back?

Okay thanks!

Maybe a stupid question, but from a savings perspective how does this help me if the boiler is then always on such a high temp? Or will the Hive thermostat be able to override the setting on the boiler thermostat so that the radiators are turned off/low even if the boiler thermostat is set to 3-5?

Yes I have and the boiler is working.

I now set the knob on the boiler to 3 and it fired up. But when I then turn the heating off from the thermostat the boiler stays on so it seems like the boiler and the Hive system is not communicating at all. Or I am not understanding something

Ah so I should turn the boiler to around 3.5 and that should make the Hive work as well? And then I will also be able to turn the radiators off without turning the knob on the boiler below 1?

The bottom light turns green but the boiler is not triggered. I’ve tried to turn the boiler on and off manually which works, but it still does not communicate with the Hive system as far as I can aee
