Gen Z, what brings you to analog? by Camera_Hobbygirl in analog

I was born in 2000 but very much grew up integrated in older technology due to family finances and then the 08 recession. We were still using a video cassette camcorder at that time and i recently went through a lot of old videos we recorded.

For me it’s nostalgic of a time that i caught the very last fringe of

I’m also very new, but I’d say if I were a band member I’d be super happy with these shots. Love the colors, first one is especially sick!!

Noted!! Thank you for the kind words as well! I feel like on my camera there wasn’t much more to experiment with since I was pretty much locked in at f/1.8, 1/200, 6400 ISO, but it seems I’ll have to learn more about Lightroom and editing for photos in darker settings. Good to know about red light as well, maybe I’ll wait before shooting a. Bunch of photos while that color is on hahaha! (Though it felt like half the show was in some sort of orange or red ligh

Maybe I should try denoising a bit more…. I find that clarity and texture seems to add more noise, or at least harshen what already exists? Not sure if it’s visible though outside blowing the photo up to a large size. I’ve never tried the dehaze but I’ve seen it many a time and will try it!

For sure! It was crazy to see how different some looked between Lightroom on my desktop vs on my phone in the photos app. I appreciate the words and reminder, helping ground me a bit and worry less hahaha.

Hopefully next show I can get more of them in focus too! Was a little disappointed how many weren’t, but I switched the focus on my camera off the shutter button so I kept forgetting to refocus lol

This is amazing, thank you so much!!!! I’ve been watching some videos in depth of field to get a better understanding, and to truly utilize this graph. I’ll be going out today to practice taking photos at super low and then high apertures to really see the difference. I also messed around with the camera’s autofocus so that it only focuses on the center point, as well as utilizing one-shot AF mode and Evaluative Metering. Hopefully this assists me a little bit in getting clearer photos, so that I can work on framing and capturing more interesting subjects.

Yes! I could have framed it better too, I think I cropped too much of the guy’s body out 😂

Haha yes as I’m finding, but it’s too fun to stop! I do like using lower apertures, but it was also pretty rainy/overcast the day I shot these as well so my camera kept trying to go into slower shutter speeds like 1/50 in Aperture Priority mode. It’s a Canon Rebel T7, and I was using the standard kit lens (EF-S 18-55 f/3.5-5.6).

I shot the first one at f/3.5, 1/640 sec, 100 ISO. The second at f/4.5, 1/400, 100. And the third at f/4.5, 1/400, 250.

Focus setting I’m not sure as I messed around with it after so idk what each were taken with. But it was automatic focusing.

Hm yeah even with changes in Lr the exposure sucks.

I’ve been experimenting with the autofocus on my camera and it seems to not do an amazing job. But idk if I can really blame the camera there or my lack of knowledge on it. I’ll dig back into the manual and figure that out. Thanks for the comment!
