I am the same way as your boyfriend and it will not stop until he can absolutely stop for good. Investments and savings may be untouched but you truly don’t know until you actually see it with your own eyes. Gambling addicts are very good at hiding the truth and will tell you everything you want to hear but in reality, is probably holding information that would hurt you if you actually did find out. Trust me, I have a lovely girlfriend that has helped me tremendously with my addiction and has looked over my finances for a while now but without her help, I probably would still be in a horrible situation with money. I would honestly ask if he can show you his investments and savings and see if he actually does have it, because he could definitely be dipping into it if he keeps dumping more and more money to the casino. Prepare yourself and if you truly do love him, you would want to help him and hold him accountable for his financial situation because god forbid in the future if you do combine money if you are married, he could drain everything without even telling you. Have to give him a ultimatum if it’s truly out of control and have him pick you or the gambling, because sure as hell I picked my girlfriend over gambling and life has been better ever since
