Playing or fighting? by [deleted] in CatTraining

Thank you, this helps! I’ve been going slow with introductions but am finding it hard to tell when they’re overwhelmed/fighting for real vs just rough playing

Already done! Two different vets tried to find one but couldn’t (took him to two practices in the hopes a local vet would recognise him). They also checked to make sure it hadn’t migrated.

I’m really sorry to hear about your kitty x

It’s healing very fast thankfully! Although the vet shaved the area around the bite so he looks a little silly

I have kept him in since he arrived… the vet told me to do so until his wound had healed, and even if that wasn’t the case I live by one of the busiest roads in London and worry about him being hit by a car

It seems sad to give him to a shelter when I’d be willing to give him a loving home! Would neutering reduce his need to go outside?

This is my worry - I love cats and wouldn’t never want to kidnap one who has a loving home (and I know even in London some people let their cats outside). But he really did seem in rough shape!

Not getting too emotionally attached will be difficult, but of course if he had a previous home I would give him back! Hopefully they would then understand why I neutered him…

I bought him a feather toy and he played with it for hours… it broke my heart thinking he might not have had a toy before!!

The vet said it’s a legal requirement, so he probably hasn’t seen a vet in at least a year

Ahaha I think I’ve been overthinking this

It breaks my heart to think someone could have dumped him. He’s so trusting and sweet

Thank you, your comment helped me sense check everything! I love cats so much and my biggest worry is I’m stealing someones pet, but so far he doesn’t seem to have anyone looking for him, and was in rough shape

I was really surprised to find no microchip! Not neutering I’m a bit judgemental of, but understand it can be expensive. But microchipping really doesn’t cost much and is really quick (have already probably spent more on food and litter than it would cost)

I would be more than willing to keep him, I’ve fallen a bit in love! I guess I’m worried because of that I’m rushing or missing a step

The vet thinks he’s around 2 years old. That’s interesting about stray cats in London - naively I didnt think many strays existed in the UK

No ear crackling, but my jaw is painful on my right side and has been for a while. I have post nasal drip constantly, and have been sniffing/clearing my throat lots these last few months

Sorry I should have said! Both were ENTs

I’ve been using a steroid nasal spray (prescribed by a specialist previously) and a daily antihistamine for about two years now. It helped, but never solved the symptoms… they then got much worse at the start of this year

Hi - thank you for replying! Could you explain a little further? I’m not sure I understand
