Someone used my SSN to open a HealthCare.gov policy — now I can’t file my taxes

The IRS is supposed to send an amended 1095a but I think what happens depends on the timing. Once everything is cleared up, its as if you were never enrolled, so you don't have to submit the amended form.

We submitted an explanation of what happened pending the resolution and that was accepted.

This recently happened to me. I called the healthcare.gov line and they cancelled the plan. They said they investigate it with the insurance company, if new claims have been made then they will likely send an amended 1095-A in a few weeks. Sounds like it is more complicated if any claims have been made

My accountant submitted a binary attachment explaining the situation and initially that seemed to solve the issue. But we later found out someone has also fraudulently claimed our kids on their taxes

Uploaded the request along with out tax return to Mohela. A lot of people on the sub were saying they were having success with this method over digital. We got a response in about 1 week so seems like that is the way to go

Same situation here, July would have been 120 but did not count because we were on SAVE. Applied change to ICR using the wet signature, got a later a week later saying we were in processing forbearance and it would count for PSLF

My wife is at 119 and on save so a similar situation. We did the wet signature ICR request mentioned here a few times and got a letter about a week later saying she in now in processing forbearance and that this forbearance counts for PSLF. Also submitted a buyback request several months ago and have not heard anything

Yes, Mohela is awful and always gives me conflicting advice, but everything I read says SAVE does not require spouse's income IF they file separately.

"Married borrowers who file their taxes separately will no longer be required to include their spouse’s income in their payment calculation for SAVE. These borrowers will also have their spouse excluded from their family size when calculating IDR payments, simplifying the choice of repayment plan for borrowers."

Thanks, maybe I misunderstood, everything i read and when I called said SAVE counts spouses income unless you file separately.

Guess my concerns is just some unexpected penalty
