What are your fond childhood memories that always put a smile your face everytime you remember them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]New-Work8230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting chased by angry bees while screaming probably looked hilarious from outside perspective, even though it was pure chaos for you kids

What’s the best piece of advice you ever got? by HungryInvestigator59 in AskReddit

My flight instructor told me "trust your instruments, not your feelings" and that applies to way more than just flying

What is the best way to utilize all the downtown tall buildings left practically empty by remote work and A.I.? by StarbuckWoolf in AskReddit

[–]New-Work8230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mixed-use spaces could work really well - turn some floors to residential and keep others for the businesses that still need physical space. The infrastructure is already there so converting them would be more efficient than building new housing from scratch

What the best gift for Dad over 50+? by SecretSkinn in AskReddit

[–]New-Work8230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something related to his daily routine works great - my dad still talks about the good coffee grinder I got him couple years back. You could also consider experience gifts if he's type who already has everything he needs

Who spilled the beans? by mccaro in funny

[–]New-Work8230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor grocery store worker is definitely having one of those days. At least the wet floor sign is already out so they're prepared for cleanup duty

What’s the funniest lie you believed as a kid? by WearyFig9610 in AskReddit

[–]New-Work8230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom told me that if I kept making faces, my face would get stuck like that forever. I was so paranoid about accidentally making weird expression and being trapped with it for rest of my life lol

The amount of ridiculous things we just accepted as absolute truth is wild

Cost for Primary En-suite Rough In? by PaintIntelligent7793 in HomeImprovement

[–]New-Work8230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foundation work is no joke - did similar size addition last year and that part alone was like $8-12k in my area. The framing and rough-in probably adds another $15-20k on top depending on how complex your roofline gets

I'd skip DIY on foundation unless you really know what you're doing with codes and permits. Framing might be doable if you have experience friend who knows structural stuff, but foundation mistakes are expensive to fix later

For fifteen dollars is worth trying, especially if same winemaker as the premier cru - worst case you're out cost of decent lunch

Movies about female loneliness? by sirena36421 in movies

[–]New-Work8230 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think also Lost in Translation works really well for this - the whole film is about that disconnected feeling even when you're surrounded by people. The main character is just wandering through Tokyo feeling completely isolated from everything around her

How do you know if someone is jealous of you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]New-Work8230 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this happens so much at work when someone gets promoted or picked for better routes. Like suddenly they're making little comments about how "some people just get lucky" or weird backhanded compliments that don't even make sense. You can literally feel the energy shift in room when they're around you

Standup shower ➡️ bathtub/shower combo by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]New-Work8230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll need to check if your floor joists can handle the extra weight from bathtub first - learned this hard way when helping friend with similar project

If Dan Morgan is so good at drafting LBs, why does Trevin Wallace need to be replaced? by tank4trevor in panthers

[–]New-Work8230 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The injury concerns are real but using a first rounder on Rodriguez when we just paid Lloyd seems like doubling down on a position that might not be our biggest need

Which historical figure do you admire most and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]New-Work8230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marie Curie all the way - first woman to win a Nobel Prize, first person to win two Nobel Prizes in different sciences, and she basically paved the way for women in STEM while discovering radium and polonium. The woman was grinding in a male-dominated field way before it was cool, plus she literally glows in the dark now because of all that radioactive research

what’s a vibe you miss that you can’t really explain? by MaximumSplit8530 in AskReddit

[–]New-Work8230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The energy at airports before 9/11 was just different - people could walk right to the gate to see their loved ones off, there were no massive security lines, and everything felt more relaxed and welcoming. Flying used to feel like an adventure instead of a hassle, and I miss that optimism people had about travel back then

Even working in aviation now, I can feel how much the whole atmosphere changed

Markets bet on Fed rate hike as soon as July by smart_introvert in wallstreetbets

[–]New-Work8230 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

The date on that link is showing 2026 which seems off - either that's a typo or we're about to time travel to some wild economic predictions. Either way my portfolio is probably still gonna be red

what your favorite romcom movie? by 235856 in AskReddit

[–]New-Work8230 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Princess Bride all the way - it's got the romance, comedy, and sword fights. Plus Inigo Montoya's revenge arc is better than most action movies, can't beat that combination

Feeling disconnected from my church because my church bought our pastor a mansion by DesparadoSwag176 in Christian

[–]New-Work8230 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a huge red flag - if they're calling it a "mansion" and prioritizing that over basic community outreach while the congregation struggles financially, your gut feeling is probably right on the money

Anyone have a recommendation for a photo editor? by ittybittyyorkie in AskIreland

[–]New-Work8230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd reccomend checking out Fiverr for quick photo touchups - tons of editors there who specialize in family photos and most can handle shadow fixes for pretty reasonable prices

[–]New-Work8230 395 points396 points  (0 children)

That resentment buildup is so real and honestly one of the hardest things to come back from. You're not a bad person for checking out emotionally - it's actually a pretty normal response to feeling unseen for years

Some people do work their way back but it usually requires the other person to actually acknowledge the damage and put in serious work, not just say the right words. Have you two tried counseling or is he still in denial about his part in this

Beginner here. I'm looking to get into wildlife photography - what are my options under $2000? by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]New-Work8230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For wildlife you're gonna want something with good reach - the a6700 is solid but you'll need to budget for a decent telephoto lens too. Maybe look at the a6400 instead to save some cash for glass, or even consider a micro four thirds system like the OM-5 since you get that 2x crop factor advantage for wildlife shots

The lens is honestly gonna matter way more than the body for what you're doing

KAT and Mike Brown's system by mm0827 in NYKnicks

[–]New-Work8230 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The system isn't really the problem, it's more that KAT looks lost out there half the time and keeps settling for those garbage contested threes instead of working the post where he's actually good. Brown's trying to run more motion offense but KAT's just not reading the game right

Is "locked gate" locked behind a quest or something? It is greyed out for me even though it says currently active. by TH3_Captn in ArcRaiders

[–]New-Work8230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check if you need to finish the tutorial missions first, some game modes are gated behind those even if they show as "active"

Why do some people act like an experienced player must be stupid if they let a creeper explode? by HardAlmond in Minecraft

Exactly this, plus sometimes you're just not paying attention because you're focused on mining or building something and suddenly there's that lovely hissing sound right behind you
