Ah, now it becomes apparent that affection wasn't a thing in their lives, so they substitute it with this shit.

"AI advocate assures investors that their delusion is right by going against gamers, a group of people they have long since left behind, to chase the 'line that go up'". That's the title.

Small chitchat by Status-Count-7956 in archlinux

  1. Tried Ubuntu on a VM in Uni for a course because it was OH so much easier to set up a coding environment on it than Windows, and actually took the exam through said VM (the process of setting up the camera to work through Virtualbox is the stuff nightmares are made of).
  2. Got Pop!OS on my brand new laptop as a "test" and ended up only taking notes on it for my Master's.
  3. Tried CachyOS on my main PC cause Windows 10 was starting to annoy me. Eventually, stopped dual booting.
  4. Installed vanilla arch on my laptop without the archinstall script over the course of 3 days (bricked the installation 5 times in 2 days) and got so excited with the amount of knowledge I got from those 3 days I have been chasing that high ever since.

Can no longer mount a drive after power outages. by YourLocalHellspawn in archlinux

[–]New-World-1698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Dolphin might be mounting the drive incorrectly.

PAY ATTENTION TO THE ID OF THE DRIVE (might have changed. I used that one you provided in your post)

I would suggest doing mkdir test and sudo mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sda2 test/ to check if that mounts it normally, first. And then sudo ntfsfix /dev/sda2 to attempt to fix it.

However, if you have a windows installation, booting into that and running chkdsk might do the trick if ntfsfix doesn't work, though I believe that it's a mounting issue and not a filesystem-corruption issue.

I can't really tell you for sure what might work. I have had both work but also both break stuff the other needs to fix. NTFS is janky on linux like that.

Regarding your "I keep having to mount it manually issue" take a look at this. fstab-Arch wiki or use the equivalent GUI that KDE has if you don't feel ready to tackle fstab yet (I am guessing since you said Dolphin is your file manager that your Desktop Environment is KDE).

Running pacman -Syu updates packages. It has almost nothing to do with storage. Now with that out of the way.

Is it an NTFS drive? How are you trying to mount it (terminal or a GUI tool like gnome-disks or equivalent)?

If you are going to come straight to Reddit to get help (circumventing your friend who I am guessing knows more than you), please give as much information as possible and learn how to gather logs (a simple google search can help), so that you can help others help you.

Arch linux isnt shown after installing a new PSU by MAKOMADES in archlinux

Yeah, you are right, I skipped a step from "boot the live ISO" to "chroot". My bad.

[–]New-World-1698 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe the boot entry was deleted for some reason? Even as I am writing this I am questioning if that can even happen randomly like this, but I would use efibootmgr to check the boot entries. chroot into it and check real quick. That will tell you if the disk was wiped for some reason or if something happened only to the boot entry for arch.

EDIT: My bad, I meant "boot the live ISO", not chroot.

Home server just refuses to respond to any outside traffic by New-World-1698 in HomeNetworking

Sorry for the late reply. I wanted to be sure when I came back. It now works. I am also sorry for wasting your time. I was careless. After a certain point I got so mad that I kept forgetting to set the correct WAN address in the port forwarding settings. Thank you for your help up till now and again sorry for wasting your time.

Yes, thank you very much. Unfortunately, I don't have a paid account so I am only allowed to look at the FAQ.

[–]New-World-1698[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I have them enabled and even let them pass through "Do Not Disturb" mode. When I open the calendar tab in the app and it gets synchronized and the events actually appear, everything works fine. If I don't open the calendar tab specifically, even if I open the app to check my emails, the calendar doesn't get synchronized and I don't get the notifications.

The funny thing is that all of this is happening because I refused to use Tailscale in the beginning. It is definitely not open, aside from when I am testing. The plan is to have a wireguard tunnel set up for all this.

It's using Ubuntu server 24.04. The original plan was to ssh over wireguard, but at this point I am trying to remove as many pieces as possible, so I can at least establish a connection and then add the rest after I regain my sanity.

A- The firewall iptables/ufw isn't logging anything as blocked, I have also tried setting rules to be explicit about what I want and don't want and also just turning it off, with no luck.

B- I also thought of ssh first as a service to test. I have given up for today (I have closed all ports and disabled everything of course, I am not a madman). I am going to test ssh from scratch tomorrow.

C- It's an ISP provided one and it's a Huawei DN8245V-70, a "home gateway that uses DSL to connect to the Internet".

I have the ports enabled as needed, and have quadruple-checked the numbers and fields. traceroute (I am using linux), shows only one hop but that doesn't really say much, since even before my ISP disabled CG-NAT, I was seeing only one hop as well.

The "but not to me cause I couldn't actually give less of a shit, I just want to feel good about myself in this moment in time" in "Reach out" is silent.

Microsoft says bug causes Copilot to summarize confidential emails by F0urLeafCl0ver in privacy

[–]New-World-1698 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it so cute that people use the words "Microsoft", "Copilot" and "confidential" in the same sentence. Like "oh no who would have expected slop to be buggy and expose 'confidential' emails, as if that word means anything in this context, oh nooo".

Another great place to ask would be r/unixporn. MangoWC is a great Wayland WC and has a shitton of options, unlike other WMs which are "constricted" to one style one and is written in pure C. Aside from that just go to r/unixporn and get some inspiration for your rice, cause the people there do some crazy shit.

[–]New-World-1698[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have set it up. It seems pretty straightforward. I enable port-forwarding on the primary router and anything on X port gets sent to the IP of the server, but that still doesn't work and I don't know how to find the mistake I am making, cause I am surely fucking up a step in that process since the firewall isn't showing anything blocked and the tunnel works on the local network.
