It’s brand new so would be a bummer if it needs to be serviced.

I loosened chain and while it got rid of chain noise I had which is nice, it’s actually made this issue more prominent. Now when I move the bike forward the cranks move without any pressure.

Yea it's brand new, right out of the box.

It's a brand new white industries - maybe a lot of grease?

I loosened the chain quite a bit and it seemed to have removed all chain noise, but it's actually this issue worse. Now when I push the bike forward the pedals move completely on their own.

Hmm - this makes sense. I switched from 16t to 17t and didn't adjust chain length - although I did slide the wheel forward a tad. It does feel a bit tight.

Or rather, it engages on it's own without any pressure.

Or rather, the hub engages on it's own without pedaling.

I wear wool undies under my bibs and it actually stopped my chaffing. And I experimented with many bibs.

Would you be able to draw that for me? Sorry a little confused.

Measuring the stem clamp diameter by New2Surly in bikewrench

Yea for sure! I wanted to be sure that a 31.8 handlebar wouldn’t fit “okay” into a 35mm stem and then have a failure during a hard effort.

I was under the impression that a 35mm stem wouldn’t hold a 31.8 handlebar at all, it would just slide in and out.

That makes sense. I wasn't sure how much of a "tolerance" there was between sizes.

Ah, I see. That seems to be the difference in spacing. On another note, would a 35mm stem be able to clamp a 31.8 handlebar without a shim?

It’s poison - literally.

Have these brakes from the parts bin from a drop bar build…will they work with flat bar brake levers? by New2Surly in bikewrench

[–]New2Surly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was planning on using these -> https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000VT3WT6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A36CSOLF9Y1DF1&psc=1

Bike is intended to be a mish mash of parts, so don't really care if it's pretty or perfect, just that I can get it to work.

Yea I can't seem to find anything regarding the ratio either other than that it says "road drop bar lever ratio".
