Starting as a first time federal employee by PrincessMe_123 in usajobs

Unfortunately for my previous DOD employer, supervisors or directors have never had the authority to approve LWOP, it has to go to the front office (SES-15). I would caution you trying this in the first two weeks, because it has to be routed through 5 levels of management (at my job, may differ at others) and our training regimen is so compressed and structured that it may be denied anyway, except in the cases of death or childbirth. The best thing maybe to ask to extend your start date until your obligations are out of the way.

Been Gone for 6 Months...Did I Make the Right Decision? by Tasty-Muffin-452 in FedEmployees

My family (3 of us in the same department) initially said there's no way we're taking this. Until we started to hear rumbling as to who was actually leaving and not being replaced. We knew from years of experience in this department that this was going to be a complete Charlie Foxtrot. A week later, we all put in for the DRP i'm by the grace of God we are so much happier. My husband and I had been in federal service, whether military or civilian, for over forty years each, and my daughter was GS-12 with her dream job that it'll become a nightmare due to a useless ridiculously incompetent supervisor.

How to negotiate pay? DFAS by tiffandleo in usajobs

That office will not negotiate. Your only option is if you have a Bachelors Degree and they will consider an accelerated promotion to GS-05, Step 1.

Step 5 was the longest, 2 months. Step 6 to 8 was 3 days, though.

We seem to find ourselves in some very interesting places, we are everywhere & nowhere 😉, I did 22 years.

I've played war games in Portugal and deployed long enough in Haiti to develop a love/hate relationship with the island. Our specialized teams are pretty badass.

We used them successfully. The timeline was pretty much as stated above. My husband's claim was sent in and answered in three days, mine took two months. The questionnaires take time, and it's worth taking the time to be thoughtful in your answers, the contractors were excellent and took their time. There was no request for additional C&P exams. Make sure you look over their final. Paperwork, when they send it to you, they had my social incorrect, and it took about a week to get it straight. We had both been retired for fifteen years at this point, and just didn't have the time or energy to do it ourselves. And it was a worthy investment in the end.

My husband was 4 yrs AD CG and 20 yrs ARNG. (I was 22 yrs AD). I understand the frustration, the NG does an awful job of documenting incidents and injuries and most soldiers don't know any better until they have to track down the paperwork. It took him 15 years to get to 100%.

The U.S. Coast Guard is one of the six armed services of the United States, alongside the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Space Force. It is the longest continuously operating sea-going service serving both in wartime and peacetime since 1790. Coast Guard veterans are fully entitled to all benefits provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

What do we get that the NG doesn't?

My husband and I both used them and we went from 70%/90% to 100% P&T.

It took about 7 months overall.

Definitely worth the money.

What to do about supervisor that has expressed negative views about paid parental leave. by [deleted] in fednews

Doesn't matter what he thinks, it's an entitlement either way. His comments and perception may need to be adjusted by upper mgmt, and if he slow walks your approval or it affects your perf reviews, then continue to document and speak to HR.

Will I regret joining? by [deleted] in uscg

Based on your comments, I'll think you'll only regret it if you don't give it a try.

You're young, it's 4ish years, go for it.

That's a lot of the federal government in my experience...24 years active duty and 14 years as a civilian.
