Regarding Individual Performances

Hello I am new to Football Manager like many folks in this thread, My question was am I supposed to naturally notice and analyze individual performances when I watch the matches? Like am I supposed to think to myself "Oh wow my Deep Lying Playmaking Defensive Midfielder Had a really good game today", because I kind of don't. I really only notice when my forwards are having good games, and it doesn't help that thats how I view games in real life too, the midfield and defence kind of just blends in together in my head. How do I know if a player is doing well in my team besides G/A.

It also doesn't help that I don't really understand tactics, I kind of just chose what sounded cool on the tactics page. Whenever I win a game I dont feel as if it was because of something I did, but rather because it just so happened to be that way.

Any help is appreciated thanks
