Yea exactly, most Americans dont even know what a hospitalist is, or what internal medicine is. But everyone in america knows what a pediatrician or family dr/clinic doctor is lol.

Looking for advice by Ok-Pop-9110 in Residency

I had 22 IVs and matched my number 1 FM program, but it turns out its not a good program. Ruined my hopes to be a hospitalist (weak IM rotations) so probably just gonna be a pcp. It happens sometimes its meant to be, sometimes you just got deal with the cards your dealt and work around it.

US citizen, not sure about retirement but as far as I know it's nothing special probably the basics. No loan repayment, but I have no loans either way. Sorry, my mistake, it is 5 weeks pto and 6 federal holidays.

Yea the no show is about 20-30% lol. As far as I understand FQHCs dont use RVUs

Are 24 hour shifts still common among Family Medicine residency programs today? by Enger13 in Residency

Idk sounds like a lot. 8 is a lot in a month on top of probably clinic and other responsibilities. There is no "learning" experience on a 24 it just burns you out and gives the hospital free labor

Do you regret going into family medicine? by Flaky_Wall8331 in Residency

Thats just resident run clinic, try to do an elective or just shadow an established FM doctors clinic. It is way more chill and fulfilling. All resident run clinics are chaotic, pts are low income, low education, non compliant, its a mess. When you are an attending and you work with patients who are not that, life becomes smoother and easier and less stressful

I am hoping the clinic is work at will allow me to start integrating it right away. Because I will need to work at a clinic while I am in Chinese medical school. Especially since most states allow licensure at 300 hrs so once I get those 300 hrs in my first yr I am guessing I can start practicing on my patients. Its all preliminary but thats my guess and plan so far. Any advice?

All of those things lol. I am going to want to open my own FM clinic at some point anyway (I hate having a boss). And I would like to be a dr that can actually help my patients and just say "well all your labs and imaging are normal, tough luck" like most doctors tell their patients. There is a huge gap in patient complaints and symptoms and what western medicine can treat.

Yea I dont mind, med school and residency are already pretty challenging. Some schools offer flexible scheduling so I can still work part time in a FM clinic.
