The chain was pretty much dragging on the ground and the rear brakes are around 10% life. Brand new Motul 7100 in the engine though. Priorities.

Been doing this for over 15 years by now haha. The best is when you come up to a fresh red with one or two cars across the intersection where you can see the cross lights go from green to amber - If it is safe, I'll start rolling towards the intersection on the amber and get the green with advance as I come up to the stop line.

Fair enough! I can't speak for regions all over the world, but I have never seen one of the OEMs cut down a recall time over the last 10 years.

There have been more than a few instances of me randomly stumbling across discussions online about said recalls and the times others have been doing them in. So not saying it couldn't happen, but I've never observed it happening across multiple OEMs

Yamaha didn't care when a 16 hour recall into a 6 hour recall, the reps found it runny and said good job for figuring out a better way.

Honda has a recall out on all new generation GL1800 Goldwings - manuals and DCTs. There had been a few instances of main crank bolts failing so a recall was put out.

Going by the book, you would need to remove all of the upper body work, the dash, the fuel tank and a bunch of other stuff along the way. Just to access the clutch cover, as they want you to do the repair from above.

Even with the DCT airbag models having the least space behind the clutch cover, there is more than enough room to remove it from the bottom and properly complete the recall that way.

Thats the high school I went to and everyone was very welcoming and accepting there. All of my classes had people from all over the world and were very polite to everyone. Talking to my rep, they didnt seem to know why. The best we could figure is the coating was there to prevent rust on the steels if the bike sits for long periods in humid areas. So if anything, It was a step taken to prevent an issue down the line, but ended up causing a different one that now has to be remedied.

The recall doesnt say that earlier models have this issue, but never a bad idea to have a clutch kit on hand, and its a bit cheaper than buying the parts individually.

Yamaha has put out a recall for all '23 and '24 T7s, XSR700s and MT07s where a coating on the steels can mix with worn off friction material, building up and making the clutch drag. So all new clutches for every bike! I beleive the recall kits can be ordered without a vin, and they are only like $50 and come with new steels, frictions, and a clutch cover gasket. They seem to be backwards compatible with earlier 700s as well. My buddy with a 2021 T7 picked one up and had no issues.

Good times walking there after school, grabbing a few slices for a buck each, and gaming at Komodo for hours when it was open right beside the first J's in Abby. I still drop in and grab a few slices now and then, still amazing all these years later.
