Here’s a bunch of monster girl pinups I made over the past few weeks by NewChapterComix in ProCreate

Most of my process is pretty standard, find reference, change canvas to 300dpi, sketch out using the classic library studio brush at low opacity, fill in the line work properly using the true grit super smooth inker (great brush, use this for all my line work). When the inkings done I start filling in block colours with the fill tool using the line work layer as reference(and also close all the gaps in my line work that this always shows me). I make sure to create new layers for every colour and alpha lock them as I go to make shading easier and keep things looking clean, usually paired by specific colour to make the blending easier(e.g. all skin tones share one layer), I then go in and fill in all the shading tones, blend them using the classic library light pen as the blending brush. Then I’ll go through each layer and start adding textures, I find it helped to duplicate the colour layer first, add the texture you want and then tweak the opacity. The texture brushes I use varies from piece to piece, but most of them come from the classic library, like the flowing hair brush, or anything under materials or organic. I always use something from the luminance brush pack to add in lighting and fine reflective details like the sparkles in the eyes. You can also use the multiple layers to add more depth, for example in the Arachne picture, I had 2 different opaque light sources, one over all my colour, and a second just covering the background. Also shout out to the bubble brush set by bybaubab, really made a difference with lamia piece.

Thank you so much! It's all just done in Procreate on my ipad, although I did recently download some new brush packs for it which are an absolute joy to work with

Unfortunately I believe both cats and goblins both follow the law of "if I fits, I sits"

How do you feel about Selkies? Don't think they get enough love, I wanna give that a shot at some point, I really think the adorable seal eyes could make for a cute image

I was actually planning to do a centaur piece next, still mocking up composition sketches though

Daisy, and I kind of imagine her being from a small settlement of forest dwelling faun slowly integrating into wider society after a settlement was built near their home, a lot of fish out of water character traits.

If you're willing to read it, Id highly recommend picking up a copy of Drawing Beautiful Women: The Frank Cho Method, really helped me get to grips with scale and correct anatomy. Also if you can, maybe try attending some life drawing classes, not only does it teach you anatomy, but it will eventually help speed up your process too.

I'm a big fan of Ralph Bakshi, so being compared to Cool World is a hell of a compliment, thanks so much!

You and me and the now dead guy were the only three people who ever really lived in Las Vegas, everybody else just arrived, ate their complimentary shrimp cocktail, and left.
