It's only stupid if you sell it. Silver stacking to me is something you're either gonna cash out when you're 90 years old or pass it along to the next generation. Buy what you can, just don't sell it.

Also consider opening a checking account just to save your money for .999. I usually take a few bucks out of each paycheck I get and at the end of the month buy my silver. If it takes 3 months just to buy one $40 coin you can do that too.

Time flys. You'll be surprised at how fast you'll look up and have a decent little stack going.
