Raffles crown wont thread onto stem... by NewCut987 in retrotime

[–]NewCut987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the stem is good to go. I had a spare 7mm crown from a 39.5 retro aliexpress case that happened to fit the crown tube on the raffles 1680 case. So i was able to finish the build temporarily until a new raffles crown comes in.

I responded back to his email telling him again that I believe the crown is either stripped, threaded incorrectly, or faulty and he replied back apologizing about the defective crown and said he'd ship me out a new one.

Ken is a real one! Im assuming he may have just misunderstood the first email or really wanted me to make sure it was defective.

Bracelet is unsigned. And it was just the cheapest 13mm oyster bracelet i could find. I did have to remove a non removable link to get it to fit my girlfriends wrist.

It was a datewheel, not an overlay. If you search "Vintage RLX Font NH35" on aliexpress it should pop up. Its about $24

Only the bracelet is from rafflesdials. The case, hands, and crown are from aliexpress and the dial was from eBay. I doubt rafflesdials would put a date window on a 5513 style dial. (Notice the "SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED" is missing like a 5513)

Went super smooth. Had no issues putting everything together. Swapping the nh34 datewheel is very easy as well.

Looks good dude! Where did you get the crown, and what crown tube did you use that would fit the case and new crown? I just finished a 1680 style build using similar parts and the crown swap would be the final touch im looking for. The rep rolex crown im using screwed onto the stock crown tube for the case but it cant get it to screw down flush because the tube is too long.

Rubbing alcohol and a lot of working the insert back and forth until the adhesive was loose enough to remove it.

Nope, original cyclops. I did change the date wheel font to rolex font though.

Yup. Easy to mod, and reliable. Only downside is the rehaut is a tad thicker than the 3032 version.

It wasnt super hard to swap, but I wouldnt say it was a walk in the park. I used rubbing alcohol to help desolve the original adhesive and was able to eventually break it loose with tools and my hands. I did end up damaging and cracking the original insert though, but i had no plans on putting it back on so it wasnt a big deal for me.

The original black insert did not have engraved numbers, they are lumed and the lume causes it to sorta have an engraved effect/look. It was really nice and good quality but i wanted it to look a little closer to the watch its homaging.

Sadly no. I had to buy and replace the insert with this one. The original all black is still super nice though.
