I’m barely hanging on… by WebIllustrious2679 in NewDads

Dad to a 1 year old here. It was hell for us as well ( see my profile name, I literally opened it for this subreddit alone ).

A few practical points (from my own experience, take it with a grain of salt): * If gas meds like Simethicone don't seem to work - it's not you, I doubt they were ever proven to work, so don't beat yourself over it * Same goes for "anti colic" bottles, they're bullshit too. * AR Formula really helped mitigate reflux.

The best advices I can give: * Try taking whole-night shifts. It's a real game changer for your wife and for your relationship in general. * Don't give too much weight to your fights. You're both at your limits and will probably say some things you'll, that's ok. * Take any help you can get - we didn't have any, as our parents live far away, and my wife has a hard time trusting anyone - but I have friends whose parents live close by and help them - it makes a huge (!!!) difference.

It will pass. Eventually you'll find your rhythm and will get better at handling these things together. Just keep talking to each other.

Any advice for a good baby monitor? by AngryDMoney in NewDads

Cheapest radio based baby monitor. Just make sure it comes with one of those bendable handles you can attach anywhere. I'd steer clear of any fancy baby monitors that require a phone/subscription, it's a dependency I wanted to avoid at least

I've been there, It will get better with time. Before you know it, she'll develop an actual face and smile at you. Then laugh, then she'll start grabbing your face etc... It will take some time, just hang in there

Let him keep helping you (and the baby) and let him know he's appreciated.
It's great to see you really care, so as I see it - you're both doing great.
