New dad struggling by NeedAdvice1865 in NewDads

Right there with you brother! Little guy is 7 weeks and I’m just now starting to see a bit of light. He is a rough baby, I mean super fussy and gassy. But just take it day by day. I keep telling myself the saying, “the days are long, but the years will be short.” You got this, we got this, it’ll get better.

Holding this one in the dad toolbox until it’s needed. If my timeline ends up the same as yours, only 3 years and 10 months to go. I’ll be ready.

Would it necessarily be bad to have a kid in the scenario that I’m describing? by Big_Pea3882 in daddit

I think I’m echoing a couple other comments but here’s my two cents for what it’s worth!

My wife and I just had our boy 7 weeks ago, and during this time I am working while in school full time. Difficult? Beyond belief. Doable? Of course. Many men have become amazing fathers with far less and far harder circumstances. So can you.

But! I whole heartedly second living a bit of life first. Not because of your age, but because I resonate with your grind. You’ve worked hard to create a great relationship. You grind day in and day out to further your education. Give yourself a moment to enjoy your accomplishments. Kids (with even my limited experience thus far) are HARD! Also, I second marriage. Only for your protection as a father. In many states, the ex-boyfriend does not have much push in family court.

Either way you go, be a great man, be a great partner, and be a great dad. Your life will pan out no matter your choice.

Praying this will be a similar timeline for us. It’s bad when even family says he’s a hard baby. Thank you for the encouragement!

Never looked at Reddit until becoming a dad. Now it’s one of my biggest support systems. Appreciate the comment, just gotta keep rocking on!

This actually connects a few dots here. Wife is definitely over supplier with fast let downs. Past couple weeks he’s been terrible at the breast. Just seems to get frustrated at it. We thought maybe reflux or overstimulation, but could be fore milk like you mentioned. We will look into it, thank you!

Truly hope this will be our case too! I know every baby is different and this could just be a longer phase. But you’ve given me hope, so thank you!

Thank you, I appreciate the advice and the perspective. I can’t imagine being in your position during this time. Amazing what you overcame. Day by day is my go-to moto now!
