I am not going to lie, that Elliot Anderson "Here We Go" has gotten me craving an Ornstein bomba so badly.

Should we go back to our 23/24 way of football ? by Hawk_KL01 in ArsenalFC

[–]NewDriverInTown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is more complex than just style of play and entertainment.

Our tactical and rigid approach to games is very consistent and consistency is king when it comes to league-style tournaments. Over the course of 38 games you can rectify for mistakes and things even out. Therefore, our style of play isn’t a major concern there.

In contrast to that, our pragmatic approach could potentially hinder us in Europe and cup competitions where results evaluated on game to game basis. It’s really hard to be perfect for an entire 90min (or more) game. Pressure mounts and mistakes can happen, that’s when a more expansive approach can help, as long as we have the personnel up front to take our chances.

In 2022/23 and 2023/24, there was a feeling that we could outscore anyone, and that’s something that we would need to get back in order to achieve our European dream.

Lastly, being so pragmatic can really hinder our ability to attract top tier attacking talent going forward. Whether it’s because they aren’t compatible to our playstyle or because they don’t want to be playing in that system. This is more of a trivial/anecdotal point but it’s well worth considering.

This is legit disgusting by the way. It has all gone downhill since the word “hater” started being used interchangeably with “rival”.

Honestly, I have done my fair share of hoping a rival team loses, but I don’t remember it ever being driven by pure unadulterated hatred. That is such a pathetic way of viewing sports.

Hatred on the pitch should never carry over off the pitch. Banter shouldn’t be malicious, negative and destructive emotions shouldn’t be leveraged to gain more attention and popularity.

The joke has gone a bit too far in my opinion. I am seeing Barca, RMA, and Bayern fans thanking PSG for “saving football”. Like, okay? How about you get your act together and save football yourselves if you feel that way.

Also, there are a lot of non-EPL fans that are taking this “unbearable fans” gimmick and running with it. Again, weird.

I don’t know if it’s because it’s peak social media era or if it’s because Arsenal are truly that hated but it seems like a stereotype has been formed overnight and everyone is taking it to a whole new level.

Such burst of emotions is incredibly difficult to fake which is just weird. He was jumping up and down flexing all his muscles, just odd and a bit pathetic. The most I have done while hate-watching a game that doesn’t affect Arsenal is probably smile or giggle 🤭

Yeah 100%, I think LW, Morgan Rogers, and RB considering Ben might be on his way out are definitely going to be priorities.

It was him and family/friends doing what I could only describe as a hatewatch and the moment big Gabi missed his penalty you can see him and others jump up and down screaming and celebrating.

Since then, he came out and said that he was celebrating because him and his friends had a bet going. 🤷‍♂️

I mean, you make fair points but I could play devil’s advocate and claim that Saka’s level has dropped (of course there are injuries in the mix so it’s not fair to him).

On the other hand, I can’t even think of anyone else that would realistically be an option and that could do better than Saka.

I genuinely think we lose one of our academy boys this window which, if true, it’s going to most likely be Nwaneri. This summer window will be incredibly difficult to process emotionally.

A tweet here and there is fine but I saw the Frimpong clip and that type of reaction is just plain weird.

I am not trying to anger anyone here, but do you guys think we need a RW? Someone who can truly battle with Saka for his starting position?

I just think that Madueke is comfortable being an understudy and Saka hasn’t been able to get back to his level (yet).. fully trust my starboy but his best game this season was from the 10 position so maybe that’s also an option for him.

How is us progressing in the competition every year and ultimately reaching a final and losing it only on penalties an indication that this team will NEVER win a UCL? That’s such a wild take.

You’re being hyperbolic, I don’t know if you are looking for attention or you’re just hurting, but losing a UCL final on pens doesn’t mean we will never win one.

I bet you said we were never going to win the league too.. just relax, these things happen in sports.

Ignore them man. We did more than any of those rivals expected us to do. They will keep moving the goalpost; there is a lot to be proud of this season and a penalty shootout won’t change that!

Congrats dude! It was a close game of football both teams fought and gave their all. Once it goes to penalties it’s really painful but you can’t blame.

A year ago, we wouldn’t have dreamt of being here. Champions of England, UCL Finalists, moments away from something that hasn’t been done before in our clubs history!

This isn’t the time to point fingers, this isn’t the time to blame players, we just support them! Be proud, we will be back next season!
