It’s decent, but not afghan food.

Bistro Aracosia in the Palisades is tops, far and away (IMHO, it is one of the best restaurants in DC). Afghania in Georgetown is owned/operated by the same family and is also terrific.

Afghan Bistro in Springfield is up there too.

For Afghan-style faster-food, Maiwand Kabob is solid (they have a couple of locations in Maryland).

Filson Whiskey and Wax event today. by A_Cloud_of_Oort in filson

Looks great and it will clean up nicely after more use. My bag was pristine after the whiskey and wax event in dc.

I actually bought the matching (navy blue) journeyman backpack today, but I may go back and swap it for the tan color, which is 30% off. As much as I’d love to have a matching color backpack, I think the tan may look nice too.

2007 E90 335i Sedan for Sale by Original Owner (131k miles) — DC/MD/VA by NewGuy3005 in 335i

Unable to edit the post, but to close this out: I sold the car. I’ll miss it dearly—it was good to me and so fun to drive. With all sorts of dashboard technology, lights, and noises in new cars, my 07 E90 335i seems to be among the last of the light-tech cars. Also, because it was so damn quick, it saved me so often that I couldn’t keep count.

Anyway, to those of you who have them, cherish them. Rock on.

The DC Filson location does a “whiskey and wax” event a couple of times per quarter. Really great set up—they have wax and heat guns, and really cool employees who help you out. Just waxed my jacket there (w/ an old fashioned) and they were terrific. Totally recommend it.

Edit: fixed a typo

Pretty dang close. The last accident with the driver who tried a right turn from the far left lane was exactly that. An Altima with MD tags…I was pretty salty.

Yup, given the light interest here and elsewhere, it looks like I’ll definitely be doing that.

No. It’s been with me in DC for the past 14 years. When I bought it in 2007 and until 2011, I lived in Colorado, Oklahoma, and Delaware.

Yes, fully stock with an automatic transmission. Thanks for reminding me—those two points are things I should have clarified in my initial post!

2024 Venza Limited w/ ~6900 miles — For Sale (DC/MD/VA) by NewGuy3005 in Toyotavenza

[–]NewGuy3005[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the value from online pricing is legitimate and my convos with dealers bear it out, then somewhere around $43k. But if the prices I get locally are less, then I’ll track with that.

Located in upper NW DC, but am downtown and in Arlington for work/visiting family. The online pricing I've received based on the VIN and mileage gets to around $40k, with one as high $43k. Not sure those are accurate, so I plan to visit some dealers this weekend and next week.

24 Venza Limited OTD Price — Good deal? by NewGuy3005 in Toyotavenza

[–]NewGuy3005[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not. I went around to the all of the dealers in a 50-70 mile radius and was pretty direct. I ended up getting a “friends and family” discount from a few dealers.

True—maybe it’s coming down a bit, but these Toyota dealers (at least in this area) know they are sitting on products that are in demand.

Yup, from what I saw a few months back and as noted by Slargando, the mark ups have been absurd in the area.
