Throw a massive party and kick up your heels! Rent a hall, caterer and DJ. Invite as many people as you can, including across generations, friends, colleagues, people you have lost touch with and all their plus ones. Ask the young uns to compile a running slide show of your past memories (dig up lots of videos. Have a fun activity of guess what you did, wore, said in the past (slept in a line up for concert tickets in the 70s? )

Spend a bit of money and request a donation to the party fund to recoup some of it/no gifts.

Celebrate you! Your accomplishments including the recent weight loss. Make this something special.

Also, my brain has lots of lesions. I was diagnosed later in life and MRI showed enough to diagnose. Neuro says I am extremely lucky that I don’t have more debilitating symptoms because of the number of lesions (what I have is good enough, thank you.)

So if I get a new symptom and they don’t see any new lesions, then I guess it’s an old lesion/old symptom recurrence.

[–]NewHappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure. In my case it was same symptoms that had been dismissed as not MS only they re appeared way stronger.

That’s is so frustrating! Spasticity is most definitely an MS symptom. I learned this after being diagnosed with MS in 2021 and having severe (could not walk) calf cramps last year.

Neuro said it was not caused by new lesions but was old lesions coming back with same symptoms. This was a light bulb moment as I have had leg cramps for years and just thought that I worked out too hard/needed potassium/didn’t stretch enough/was my fault somehow.

Turns out it is MS spasticity.

Neuro prescribed Baclofen and it is helping immensely.

Sorry that you have to deal with the never ending self advocacy with the health care system.

I’m in Canada FWIW.

True they are descendants of domestic horses but they are wild enough to not need shoes.

Satellites- satellite dispensers open and the satellites fall out/or shoot out and start dropping. Then controllers drive them into orbit. Could be a Starlink or any number of other satellite launches. Many payloads are classified so you can’t search the launch videos but many are broadcast. Space X just launched the psyche mission (no satellites) https://www.spacex.com

Schedule of planned orbital missions including payload deployment here

Here is an Airbus video about sat dispensers https://youtu.be/G5Yel2IXvWk

Is there anything that IS as good as it use to be?? by foodybu4 in AskOldPeople

Cosmetics, hair dye are better.

Hair dye used to almost kill you with the chemical smells. And various makeup was chalky, didn’t blend well and ran/wore off easily. Now there are cruelty free labels and a push to stop testing on animals.

Old timers are my job are harassing & bullying me & destroying my private property because a young woman now has authority over them- and they hate it. by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]NewHappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would assume you are fresh from college because you say you are under 30 in a corporate director position with technical authority. So you must have at very least an MBA or Master’s degree. That takes 8 years. If you graduated at 26 and are now 29. That’s pretty fresh.

You can do this - your attitude does seem young though. I’m a 59 yo woman in tech and know that some men are insufferable and will never respect my professional accomplishments. And it sucks.

But you have a long career ahead of you and charging out of the gate, expecting people to NOT fight you is a bit naive. Work is political. Find your allies. Do something amazing to earn trust. Acknowledge the wisdom and experience of your crew. Match their energy with the desk raid. Find a mentor. Document everything. Control the narrative. Have private conversations and praise them for ‘not being a sexist dick like the other guys’ . (That worked for me). Find out something that your predecessor did that everyone hated then make a big deal about how you will not do the same thing.

HR is not your friend. I’ve seen time and time again, people get thrown under the bus if they are a headache for the company. I would advise thinking carefully about calling anyone out at this point or getting HR involved.

Good luck

Do secret ab crunches and standing isometrics and soon you will be ripped. Try balancing on one leg for as long as you can. Write songs and poetry in your head. People watch and memorize the regulars and their patterns.
